It’s kind of embarrassing. Foden and Trent simply don’t work in these positions. But mainly we just give up after scoring. Completely daft.

On the one hand it's important not to overreact. They've scored from a very low percentage chance and not had any high percentage chances.
On the other hand it's so predictable how we stop pressing after scoring and it's so bad to watch...

Trent and Declan work in the sense of protecting the edge of the box (aside from 30 yard rockets), but it makes us incredibly narrow with Foden and Saka forming the edges of the upfront diamond. Denmark can easily get it out to their wings and then they basically just have Trippier or Walker to go past.
Gah. I don't like moaning about Southgate, but I think these tactics are particularly odd. Feels very retro...

It's criminal what he's doing with this set of players. They are so good they bail him out with results but there is a fucking absurd amount of potential in this squad. Never mind golden this is the platinum generation.

I don't understand the need to force Trent in midfield. He's an alright player, but hardly so good he needs to start in any position going.
Denmark controlling most of the game.

Not sure why Shearer is making so many excuses. Plenty of times our players have had passes available. They just don't take them.
Southgate style isn't helping though as it's just so slow with lots of side to side and back passing.

All those fears about Southgate being too safe still coming true. The squad is wasted on him.
And Trent would work but not when the forwards are alongside him in their own half. If we played higher up with him pinging balls through we'd be so dangerous.
