I mean, it was attack vs defence. There was always going to be a couple more if we got the first. Not sure we learned much there though.
Gallagher was decent, as was Eze. The drop from Kane to Watkins is pretty steep. Maddison and Grealish looked decent when they came on. Wil be interesting to see which 7 he drops from this lot.

Surely Palmers a easy pick for the squad?

Yeah, he’s a given. Difficult to pick between Eze, Grealish, Maddison, Bowen. Surely two of those won’t be going.
I reckon he’ll drop:
Trafford Quansah +1 defender (shaw maybe) Jones Toney Then 2 from 4 above. Probably can’t argue too much with any two.

I reckon Shaw is on the plane if he can prove his fitness.

I don't blame the players, it's on the manager and his safety first bore people to death approach. This is what he wants and this group of players is wasted on him.
They'd be so exciting to watch under someone that went for it.

I fear Scotland won't score a single goal in the tournament. We lost our best Championship striker, but don't worry, we have more of them! Anyway, McTominay scores all our goals (injured) Looking to qualify for the knockout stage with three 0-0 draws

Since my family is Scottish on both sides I always support them when i get the opportunity but feel like this tournament might be a tough one to subject my son to as the first he’s old enough to (sort of) pay attention to.

Nah, get them used to it I say. They've got to learn about hope/loss and getting kicked when you're down. Our boy has high hopes for the tournament. The poor deluded fool. I've had 40+ years of being burned by them, so go in with lower expectations! I inflicted a team on him who like their ups and downs and he's actively chosen to follow spurs, so you've got to learn to enjoy the highs and weather those lows.

Highs as a Spurs fan? It's all relative I suppose...

The highs are not as high without the lows Scotland qualifying was our high TBH, I think the boys will take a beating, but our fans will enjoy it anyway.

Sounds like Maddison has left the England camp. Shame for him, but I guess it’s not a massive surprise. Form hasn’t been great and he’s always been a player Gareth doesn’t really trust. He’s also not really a wide player, and behind Bellingham, Palmer and Foden for the 10 role.
First time I can remember there being zero spurs players in the England squad.

Sky Sports News is trying to draw comparisons with Hoddle dropping Gazza in '98. Not even close.

I’m a little surprised, but you can’t really argue Eze should be ahead of him on current form. Don’t watch much West Ham but I imagine Bowen has been better across the season as well. Let’s be honest, even if he went he wasn’t going to play.

Yeah, can’t say I’m overly disappointed. It is nice to see your players do well for England but he wasn’t getting a look in regardless so might as well go rest up.

Some of the news out of the France camp baffles me. Saliba was head and shoulders the best defender in the PL last season but isn't getting a look in because Deschamps doesn't like his apparently casual attitude on the ball at the back.

Give him a well deserved rest after Tottenham's tour of Australia.

Apart from Dragusin who can play 3 games and still be guaranteed a spot with Romania.

Curtis Jones dropped.
Southgate expected Maddison to stick around for the final warm up game after telling him he wouldn't be in the squad.

Looking like Grealish and Maguier are both omitted.
Surprised he's not taking Grealish - feel he offers something different and he's always good to win a late free kick or two.

Would've kept Branthwaite over Toney or Watkins.

Actually like the choices and surprisingly brave for Southgate. Agreed. A little surprised about Grealish, but it makes sense. Very surprised about maguire, even despite the injury. I guess Southgate knows it’s his last tournament so doesn’t need to play it safe and keep friends. Hopefully he’ll have the same approach to playing style but I doubt it.
