I dunno. It increasingly looks like a jittery defence will be our downfall.
Obviously he's not a VVD or Rio type/level CB that can calm a defense down just by himself, but he is still very effective and more relaxed there than all the other options bar Stones. He's comfortable in possession, can actually play forward and is used to being pressed.
People have short memories. Wasn't that long ago we were questioning whether moving him to right back was the right call as he's been so good alongside Gabriel.
Plus he could provide DM cover were something to happen to Rice mid tournament. His versatility could be so useful. Anyway, it's not happening whilst Southgate and co are around.

I agree on his quality, but at Arsenal he's part of a well oiled machine and he has studied his role and honed it to a fine art. He doesn't have that experience with England and I just can't see his being available making any difference, also I dont think Southgate would pick him.

He's been excellent everywhere he has been so I can't see any reason England would be different. But yeah, it's not happening so pretty irrelevant.

Even Saliba is getting criticised
"William Saliba getting a rare start in Marseille, even though the coach had said beforehand that the Arsenal player “does things he doesn’t like”"

A mate of mine was modelling his already on Facebook, ready to go to Germany. I wonder if he'll get any stick for it...

Henderson doesn't make the 30 man provisional squad announced later, apparently.
Colour me shocked.

Four Palace players. Hope they can replicate some of that end of season magic.

My biggest worry about England is whether Southgate can accommodate and get the best out of both Bellingham and Foden.
If he can, then anything less than a place in the semis would be surprising.

Got Palmer to squeeze in there as well.
England are going to look as top heavy as Lolo Ferrari this summer

Really surprised about Henderson, and particularly Rashford. Southgate making a point of not just picking his favourites, which I am all behind.

He's a Southgate favourite. I thought he was nailed on based on Southgate's past decisions.

Yeah, if he needed someone to dribble the ball 5 yards, take on a defender and lose the ball, Rashford was the man
TBH, probably best for him, seemed like he would rather be somewhere else half the time, get his head straight

Its going to be fascinating to see how Southgate’s conservative tendencies marry with a squad this attackingly talented
Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson, Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale, James Trafford.
Defenders: Jarrad Branthwaite, Lewis Dunk, Joe Gomez, Marc Guéhi, Ezri Konsa, Harry Maguire, Jarell Quansah, Luke Shaw, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker.
Midfielders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Gallagher, Curtis Jones, Kobbie Mainoo, Declan Rice, Adam Wharton.
Forwards: Jude Bellingham, Jarrod Bowen, Eberechi Eze, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Anthony Gordon, Harry Kane, James Maddison, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins.

Trafford, Quansah, Jones and one other won't make the 26 man list, I reckon.

I think he needs to cut 7 from that right?
Trafford, Quansah/Branthwaite, Jones/Wharton, Shaw, Bowen, Eze, Toney.
I reckon Maddison is at risk, but might just sneak in based on past experience.

Nope, UEFA gave in to demands for 26 man squads.

Here in the office people are saying take Eze and leave Maddison but competition in those places is so tight both could stay home.
Solanke must be gutted that he hasn’t made the longlist when Toney got there after being suspended and doing nothing on his return.
