Feels like Kane is carrying a niggle to me. He missed the last 2 matches of the Bundesliga due to injury, after an absolutely barnstorming season for him and BM, he's definitely not 100%

To be honest, he feels like a bit of a talisman at this point anyway. Portugal might have gone further if they weren’t constantly looking for opportunities from Ronaldo and I think England have a similar problem. He’s seen too many winters.

He’s basically a passenger most of the game but if you get a half chance you want it to fall to Kane, he misses some you’d expect him to score but he’s still comfortably our best finisher
Concerning how immobile and lacking in stamina he really is though

What odds a Toney missed (no look) pen next game? Love it, regardless

Takes some bottle given the circumstances and horrible recent history of black players being scapegoated for missing pens for England. I'm surprised he didn't trip over his massive bollocks on the run up.

Yeah that Toney pen has to be one of the most audacious penalties I've ever seen given the circumstance.

It has felt like a tournament where most teams are playing dire football and advance because their opponents are even worse. It's felt like a tournament that's come off the back of another season where many players have been overworked.

Oh man, World Cup '26 is going to be an utter mess after two years of the new CL/EL/ECL format...

I saw a tweet of the back pages today and no sign of Saka.

I saw a tweet of the back pages today and no sign of Saka. Probably because Saka didn't score the winning penalty, and wasn't in the initial group celebrations as he was doing his own private thing. But even so...

Spain’s boss run to the final continues!
I doubt France can stink things out long enough to nick an own goal against a side this good.

That's exactly what they'll do given how these Euros have gone.

There have been plenty of decent performances, they just haven't comes from the big teams this time (Spain excluded).

Netherlands have had some fun ones too. But more in a chaotic end-to-end way that’ll probably see them undone when they play an organised team of blockers like France or England - or Spain who have just been better than everyone else.

They have kind of slipped out of the top bracket a bit in recent years though. But yeah, they are definitely one of the entertainers in the competition.

I’d probably rank the remaining teams
Spain France England Netherlands
In terms of how likely they’d be to win the final, but obviously that’s not a true ranking as Spain almost certainly beat France tonight.
So I suppose you’re really looking at
Spain England Netherlands France
In terms of who might more realistically win it.
Netherlands have goals in them but they’re so open compared to the others its just inviting trouble from Saka, Foden etc

It's going to be England France penalties isn't it. Maybe it's my current mood but this Euros has been absolutely dire.

The only good games in this tournament have involved Austria.

I’ve really enjoyed the Euros so far. It feels too soon for us to be at the end already to me.

There was a lot of good group games, as always when it gets to the knock out stage it can be less entertaining.

I think it's been pretty great. Germany have been great hosts. I've enjoyed watching Austria, Georgia, Turkey, Germany, and Spain. I also enjoy watching England a lot more in the knockout stages cos the stakes are higher, and watching in the pub is so much more fun. I'm hoping France can find a bit of form tonight because Spain scare me.

Spain really aren't all that, the game against Germany was 50/50, Germany actually had more shots, more possession, corners etc. and the most blatant handball ever (don't get me on to that shite again) should have given Germany the lead. Nobody was bigging them up as world beaters.
England have better players than Spain on paper, I'd be more worried about France if I was an England fan, as France literally have better players than England in most positions and will click into gear soon.

Its a little unfair to say Spain aren’t all that based on the Germany game considering Germany were the next (joint?) best team in the competition.
France and England have similar issues about amazing players not making an amazing team. The cohesion of the Spanish is what tips it for me. They’ve been able to control games as a unit and when they’ve needed to be reactive or adapt they’ve done that too. France and England have both looked quite one dimensional for a lot of the tournament and neither have looked like potent goal threats for most of their matches.
That said, both have individuals capable of magic and you wouldn’t be talking a Greece situation if either did it. France were the pre-tournament favourites afterall.
The Dutch as I said before are entertaining and can score but the thing that’s made them so fun will probably be their undoing. It almost was against Turkey.

As an England fan, I think we have to worry about everyone. Especially beating the next opponent, Netherlands, before even beginning to think about a final!
