Sister thread to the Recently Abandoned Games thread that I think is still around somewhere.
Kicking things off with A Town Called Malice. (Sky)
Someone at Sky thought Gangs of London did pretty well and said "let's do that again, but in the 80s." Cue a sub Guy Ritchie script that feels like it was knocked off by a chatbot that's been fed the line "I'm from Sath Landaaan you cunt!" repeatedly. Plotholes you can drive a Fiat Panda through and, in case you haven't figured out it's set in the 1980s, it shouts it at you with a very literal soundtrack.
A bloke has to run from the police? Better play "I Fought the Law" by The Clash. About to chill by the pool? Let's put on "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Met the girl of your dreams. You better believe Foreigner's "I Wanna Know what Love is" is playing. It really is that bad.
Done and dusted after one episode.

Warrior Nun
In fairness it was mildly entertaining despite the rubbish name, but after a month of not being arsed enough to start episode 4 I think it's officially abandoned.

Yellowstone (about 6 episodes in).
Gritty, bleak, rugged - I get it.

Dominic West being one of the worst actors I can think of probably doesn't help. Idris Elba isn't much better.

Any of those Haunting at Hill House type pieces of shit. Absolute trash and the scariest thing about them is the acting.

Search Party
I don’t hate it. But it’s a mess and I can’t be bothered.

Too many to count:
Supernatural: Cool ideas sometimes, but a lot of what happens during an episode stays there, so the various romances and other developments don't really matter. Other than that it veers between humorous and melodramatic and it often feels stock-standard and not really convincing when the melodrama shows up. The heroes are pretty stupid sometimes, but worry not, they have plot armor. Bad outweighed the good, so I stopped a few episodes into the second season.
Buffy: Very episodic. It doesn't matter how wild the things are that happen, as the townspeople just forget whatever happened in the last episode. Buffy herself isn't believable in her role as the show never bothers to establish her as anything more than "teenage girl with awesome powers". Overall it just felt way too cheesy and unbelievable to me. On top of it the setting isn't interesting and it doesn't even have the occasionally nice atmosphere of Supernatural or its interesting ideas.
True Blood: Vampires are real and everybody already knows about them. It immediately removes one aspect of what actually makes them interesting, but I was willing to give it a try. After a few episodes it started to sink in that it was probably more about sex and violence and drama than about Vampires. But I stopped watching pretty early, so who knows.
Lexx: Pretty weird and often interesting, but also quite awkward and sometimes uncomfortable as well. Funny at times, sure, but in the end the viewing experience was uneven at best. Seems like you need to have a very particular taste to get along with this. I stopped after the first season.

I can only assume, as you didn't mention him, you loved Uncle Tony raw?

I can only assume, as you didn't mention him, you loved Uncle Tony raw? I’m amazed that, considering he was supposed to be a crooner, they didn’t cast someone who could actually sing (or dub the fucker!) But no, was not a fan. Especially of that scene by the pool. What it actually reminded me of was infinitely better films like Sexy Beast where you had actors like Ben Kingsley who could give creepy or crazy vibes without having to be overtly sexually threatening. They just threw that scene in because they needed a reason to give wotsit a reason to give him an strangely small bullet wound from a sawn off shotgun

The Expanse. Great idea just the execution is a bit slow and I can't be arsed.
Misfits. Series 1 and 2 are fun. Then the Irish one left and it turned to shite.

Another series I couldn’t hack after about the halfway mark, despite it getting almost unanimous love on here, was The Traitors. I just couldn’t hack the constant histrionics and people collapsing into tears at the drop of a hat. It reminded me of that funeral bit in The Host where everyone is basically competing against each other as to who could be the most grief stricken.

The Office US Gave up after the first episode was just a carbon copy of the original, but shittier. No, I don't care that it "became it's own thing" or whatever at some point. Plenty of stuff out there somehow manages to accomplish that without being a shitty and unnecessary American remake of a BBC show.

Search Party I don’t hate it. But it’s a mess and I can’t be bothered. The first couple of seasons I really liked but when they moved from TBS to HBO for season three it started a real slide into becoming a stupid cartoon version of itself.

To be fair it’s literally just the first episode that shares a script with the UK version. It goes its own way from episode 2. Yeah I don’t know why they decided to do that either.

You - absolute garbage writing
Three Pines - I do like a quirky noir detective show and Alfred Molina is likeable, but this was awful
Rebecca - French detective series, absolute garbage story that stretched credulity and with a horrible performance from the main actor

My understanding is that while it becomes slightly less of a blatant ripoff after the pilot, it still takes some time before it approaches anything original. Honestly, I was never likely to enjoy it though. I never thought The Office needed a remake.

You can pretty much skip the first season. 2nd season onwards, it is excellent though. It's similar but different. It becomes much more like Parks and Rec etc than a mockumentary (albeit still elements of that), especially the characters. Michael Scott is so much more likeable than David Brent.

Andor and The Mandalorian
I think I'm done with Star Wars for the forseeable future. I've not enjoyed anything since TLJ.
Oh, and I lasted about three episodes of Peaky Blinders before dumping it. God knows what people see in that show - dull as fuck.
