Ha, I'll wait. Would love a release date though, that's the worst part. Not knowing when!

If that's good then good for them.
I imagine they'll need a hell of a lot more than $3M in revenue to cover development costs though, so I hope it has a long tail. It seems to be getting great word of mouth.
Does anyone know if the save game from the demo will carry over to the main game?

Reading this thread is killing me.
Hear bloody hear
I'm really glad it's going over well, though - for one thing, I do enjoy seeing you lovely lot having fun with a game, and for another, a strong reception on PC should ensure that the mooted console release actually happens at some point. (Given how long it spent in production, I half-feared it'd crash and burn on PC, then get cancelled altogether on console.)

Have no fear, I'll be continuing my joyful commentary updates out loud as I play to spread the word \0/

Also, I found a severed head of one of the staff. You can't vaporise it like other junk so maybe it's actually to do with something. Anyway I've popped it into storage for now.

Just bought it myself after enjoying vthe demo. Seems the same won't transfer though. No worries, I can enjoy the level all over again!

I'm quite enjoying the puzzles, the "fill the bar" ones are tough but once I stopped trying to plow into them randomly and solve them logically I solve them relatively quickly. Though they could be tutorialised MUCH better.
I have disabled the laser (though I had to look up how, I would not have found the code otherwise, which again in a game with a lot of QoL fixes is a very strange design choice), and am currently exploring storage.
Obligatory "fuck the flying virus blob looking things". Though I seem to have a lot of dragons breath ammo now, which helps. Having not played the original version, only SS2, I've been surprised how much shooting there is. Though maybe I shouldn't have been given the proximity with which it released to Doom.

Yeah, the first puzzles stumped me for far too long, then I suddenly got it. Agree they were pretty obtuse without a tutorial. I read an interview where they were discussing which old bits to leave in and which new bits should be done and I guess they had to decide one way or another. It's a bit off-putting sometimes, like when you load it up next day and go, "right, so where am I fucking going again, and why?". But I guess I don't notice it as much having played the original quite a few times. I notice the new stuff more tbh. There is a lot of shooting isn't there and indeed to fuck those flying fucks. I'm alternating between an upgraded sparcbeam/laser rapier and an upgraded pistol at the minute with the occasional very liberal use of the shotgun and frag grenades. Satisfying.

Taking out 4 annoying space hoppers with 1 emp grenade doesn't get old either apparently.

I'm enjoy it a lot so far. Only thing I got stuck on was getting in to Research Central, as one of the doors is permanently fucked and I spent ages trying to un-fuck it, then looked at tutorials about the original where the door isn't fucked, only to find out there's a second door I'd not noticed.

Yeah there's lots of door action going on for sure!

Yeah, a lot of people who have only played SS2 think SS1 must have been similar to that game, but it's really more like Doom as an immersive sim. That's why I love it though.

Yeah it's definitely got that vibe. I still can't get over how they've managed to update it but still retain the original atmosphere. It's truly a great feat

Storage done, flight deck now. Got tons of SMG, shotgun ammo and just got an assault rifle.
I'm quite conservative with the mag pulse ammo though. Probably as I guess I found a secret one early and didn't get much extra ammo for it for ages.

Same, I think I bought a clip for it as backup but haven't used it since as no other ammo came about.
It's using valuable inventory space too. I might stick it in storage for a bit

I can't remember the end much. I remember looking around for the final code number.
No, hang on, that's ss2
Er
Right, I definitely can't remember much past the mutagen
Also, there's a patch out for it that sorts some bugs out now

There are some great bits after the mutagen too. One that stuck to my mind is when you rig the antenna to blow up, and Shodan locks the door behind you. Even with the revival chamber activated, which wasn't all that easy to find on that floor iirc, it was a real "oh crap" moment. I don't think most people were in the right state of mind to realize you could just use a probe on the door (if you had it), or a reflex patch to quickly solve the puzzle. I certainly didn't the first time (luckily I had the chamber activated). . The combat ramps up a lot too. It gets even shootier. Good thing there's lots of ammo around. I don't think I ever ran out, not even close, and not even on the max difficulty level.

Good stuff, sounds cool. I'm getting confused between 1 and 2 because I know you need the codes from the monitors in 2, but I'm also doing that in this one too. Can't remember.

Small quality of life improvement they could make. Save logs somewhere, I keep not 100% paying attention to things that aren't actually in the audio logs and losing my place.

I really don't remember playing this back in the day. Sorely tempted to buy on payday though.

I'm enjoying this. Whilst it does appear to have increasing skills/abilities, I don't have to contend with a bewildering array of skill trees and dolly-clothing.
I am regretting not grabbing more trash and recycling earlier in order to purchase more health packs.
Also my first mouse/keyboard game for yonks and I'm finding my keyboard skills are a little rusty. Need an EMP in a hurry? Here, use this med stim instead.

Very much tempted to buy this myself next month, but I'll download the demo again so I can see how my laptop copes. While I'm sure it can run it well enough at max power, the heat in the summer here means I don't want to push it too hard... lest my room becomes a furnace...

Seems its pretty good with specs though. I've got a 2060 with a ryzen 3 or something and it runs fine. Not sure how that translates though

And realistically, if I want to avoid the subsequent heat bubble, I have to keep the card to 30W max in the summer. I could also just wait until I get my desktop back, but that might take a few months still... DF says the game on Low loses a lot of its visual appeal. Let's try the demo and see.

If you can get it to medium, I reckon it'll be fine

Runs at a stable 60fps on 720p and medium settings. Looks decent too. It doesn't even max out my card, which is good. I could go a bit higher res, but then the GPU does get a bit hot. Also I have no idea if later, larger areas would be heavier, especially the groves and the security level.
Still, seems worth a shot.

I've got it on medium and it's absolutely fine. There was a df thing that said that low is noticeable between medium, but then it wasn't that big of an improvement going from medium to high, or even ultra, so I don't reckon you're missing anything major. Enjoy!

Finished this yesterday. Overall I really enjoyed it and quite liked that it's less RPG than the sequel, think I prefer not having all the cyber module stuff to worry about on balance and just being able to use what I want.
I do think they could have done with some more QoL when it came to progression, it's a little obtuse as to how you're meant to progress at some points. I think inventory space was a little on the low side as well thanks to the junk mechanics. Some kind of QoL to auto scrap stuff would have helped a bit, but a tiny bit more space by default would have too.
I appreciate them seemingly keeping to the layout of the original game's maps, but IMO they could have done with either spacing things out a little more to improve the maps' readability, or provided a floor toggle for each deck as it gets a bit silly when you have areas passing over others.
The very end sequence played a bit like a wet fart. But otherwise great.
