I panicked and lobbed a grenade, earning myself a trophy in the process!

Weapons-wise, I have the TB-05 Sparqbeam Sidearm, the KE-41 Minipistol, the JW-76 Mag-Pulse Rifle (although I've had virtually no ammo since I picked it up), the Lead Pipe, and the Monkey Wrench.
All names culled from the wiki, 'cause I couldn't remember them.
Have I missed anything major at this point in the game?

Did you manage to fully clear medical with the security on 0%? Including that secret door on the east side? And did you take note of the number in the monitor screen in the computer mode room? I've got hardly any magpulse ammo either. I think thats for later

I'm pretty sure I got Medical down to 0%, but I'm not sure about the secret door; also, I looked around for a number on a monitor (thanks to your previous post!), but I couldn't seem to find one. I'm pretty close to the elevator in Research, though, so perhaps a trip back to Medical is in order. Would I be right in assuming that there isn't one of those healing pods on every level? If so, that's another reason to backtrack - I'm not flush with healing items, and I'm only at 50% health or so.
EDIT: Also, thanks again for all your help! It really is appreciated, especially as this kind of old-school experience is so new to me.

That east door is definitely worth a visit. It's not actually a door. It's just an alcove that looks slightly out of place. You click the wall and it'll open on 0% security. There is definitely a monitor in the computer room on medical. It will have a number on it, and it's that number you need, along with other numbers in different levels computer node rooms. Together they make up an essential code that you need in the reactor level so it's not an option to skip them. The healing pods are scattered about but I'm not sure they're on every level. So probably worth a quick trip I'd say. Another reason to go to medical No problem for helping, I find it fun!

For what it's worth, I didn't start using the Magpulse regularly until near the end of the game. Until then, I saved it in the stash elevator.
And medical stations are on very few levels indeed. It's worth making the trip back regularly, at least early in the game, to save on healing items. Later on, you should have enough ways to stay alive that it won't be all that necessary.
PS. no point in keeping both the lead pipe and monkey wrench. I'd keep the one I'm most comfortable with (wrench for me) and yeet the other. Inventory space comes at a premium in this game.

I'll pop back to Medical this evening, grab a full heal from the pod, and see if I can find the secret alcove. I think there was a '2' displayed on one screen in/near the CPU node room, so perhaps that was it?
Thanks, malek86 - I appreciate the input. Will try to find the storage elevator and ditch the lead pipe, mainly because I like the BioShock associations of the wrench!

There are actually lots of secret doors, and most don't even require 0% security. In true Doom style, I'd try and double click on every wall that looks suspicious.
Also don't forget that if you activate the cyborg reconstruction chamber on a level, you could technically just let yourself be killed on that level to get back some health without using up items. The reasons you shouldn't get used to this strategy are because 1) it's so uncool, and 2) some chambers are quite out of the way and some levels don't even have one, so it's more reliable to just learn how to stay alive.
Edit: just read that in the remake, the player is resurrected even if they die on a level without an activated chamber, as they will simply be sent back to the nearest one. That is quite handy.

I found the secret door in Medical, all thanks to quadfather - well worth the return trip, especially as the weapon you get has already saved my ass several times in Research!

quadfather The Magnum I've reduced the security level in Research to 0% (two or three cameras, plus all the CPU nodes), and I've picked up a sample of something radioactive (I think). There's a door that's locked with a keypad, but I can't find the code anywhere.

Oh, and the screen in the computer room had a 0 on it, which I'm noting down here so I can refer back to it later!
This is an excellent game, and I just wish Nightdive had included a few basic QOL improvements for the console version:
- Why isn't there a 'toggle sprint' option? Trying to hold L3 while pushing the stick forwards is a recipe for a broken controller. - Holding a direction on the D-pad to scroll through your inventory ought to work, rather than having to tap it repeatedly. - Your most recent save should always be at the top of the list in your Load screen. - Listening to an audio file when you pick it up should mark it as seen in your log.
Minor gripes, I know.

I'm sure it's in a different quadrant, and you need a keycard for that. Dammit, I can't remember but 50 quid says if you go back in this thread a few pages, it's discussed

I managed to find the door code on a data stick on a random desk - one solved puzzle later, and robot production has been shut down.
Now onto Maintenance, or so I assume.

I think I've done all I can in Maintenance for now - can't see a way to get the security level any lower - so I moved on, and now I'm in the Reactor.

On that note, I like that the game lets you wander the station at your leisure. Sure, it's better to follow the quest cues, but I'm pretty sure that right from the start you can go anywhere from level R to 5 without any roadblocks. Later levels can't be accessed without first acquiring the related missions, but getting there before you have good equipment would be suicidal anyway.

After getting the security level in Reactor down to 0%, I couldn't see where to go next - the only part of the level I hadn't explored was the reactor core, which was swarming with bullshit (radiation out the wazoo, plus loads of robots), so peaced out and went to Storage.

Question: are all of the areas mandatory to beat the game, or can you skip some?

Good question, and I'm not 100% sure tbh.
It gets hazy after research for me. Have you been to the flight deck yet?
