Remco outdoing Ganna on pure watts on the flat section is just crazy. Also I discovered the ambient audio feed today, Kelly was getting on my nerves with his constant stream of absolutely nothing interesting, and Hatch wasn't helping. I much prefer the GCN boys for comms.

Don't think the route suits him, too many punchy climbs, not enough TT miles & the Quickstep team is nowhere near good enough to support him. He's probably looking podium at absolute best, 90% sure it's the Vuelta again for him.

Pippo Ganna apparently tested positive after being in a gondola down from the mountaintop finish a few days ago. Which was filled with riders according to eurosport, so there may be a good few more drop outs in the days ahead. Covid is *such* a pain in the arse. Still messing shit up even now. I just hope they all recover ok, I'm still a bit wheezy when exercising after my dose in Feb/March. Admittedly, I'm definitely not an elite athlete.  |

Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if G and Tao also get it… The picture of Remco at the end of the stage yesterday made me chuckle: he looks about 40. Obviously you're not going to look great after a hard effort, but it looks as though he'd not gotten any sleep for a week.

It's looking like it. Did you see the crash by an embankment yesterday where a mechanic nearly got hit by a cyclist after checking on some downed riders in a narrow bit of road. Yeesh. Felt for him and the poor unknowing cyclist who barrelled into him.
The geezer who'd hit the wall looked a bit fucked, but seemed to have got back up and got going eventually. In fact, later on someone else had gone into a wall and snapped their bike and they still looked a bit unbothered about it.
They are a tough lot these cyclists!

The Tao crash looked fairly benign, one of those ones where you slide and lose some skin, I suspect he grabbed too much front brake and instead washed the front out slamming down hard. I’d always rather the back goes first. Stretchered off so either couldn’t walk or suspected broken neck.
