Not long got in from my Sunday ride. Looked like I tuned in at a good time.

Did you catch DSM's unique approach to making the race hard, breaking the peloton up in 3 groups and forcing some domestiques to start pulling to bring everything together again?
Although, unique. Apparently another team did the same earlier this week in another race.

Sorry to spam tweets. I do love that we now to see behind the scenes as well. Sporza and Flanders Classics make an hour-long behind the scenes documentary of De Ronde every year since De Ronde 100. It's worth a watch! fb.watch/jFNgkOeCtr/

Everyone has their phone out as the race goes past, so it seems there's always someone in the right spot.

I felt really sorry for him there.
And for WvA getting a puncture at just the wrong time.
Yet am happy MVdP won, despite him barrelling poor degenkolb into the gutter.

Phillipsen’s fault that for me- he dived for the ditch and left the two of them nowhere to go, you do tend to stay up if you’re the one ahead.
The end did feel like an anti-climax, boy, would I have loved a sprint ala the women’s end, and absolutely gutted for Van Aert. Interesting to see Phillipsen morphing slightly into a Sprinter+.

Yeah, I felt for Degenkolb. Mathieu dat at the back of the group at the start of that section, with Philipsen pacing at the front.
MvdP tried to move up a few 100 meters before but couldn't get through as people swapped from cobbles to the side. At his second attempt the same happens but with Degenkolb being bowled over.
It's not exactly Philipsen's fault but he did cause it.
I think Mathieu and Wout would have riden clear from the rest either way though.
Such a pity we didn't get asprint on the velodrome between those 2.
Beautiful win for Mathieu regardless.

Not that WVA is in the mood to care but that was super quick tire change. I may have to hire him for club rides. A shame for him, looked like he had the legs to win. Surpried to see him come back through the pack and even drop Ganna.
I actually missed most of the race. Didn’t go out on my bike has I was feeling super tired. Went back to bed. Got up and went out with the camera for a few hours, got back with 90km to go. Fell asleep on the sofa and woke up with 20 on the clock. Obliviously needed the sleep

90 to go is a good way to watch most bike racing, falling asleep aside! If I’m feeling super fancy I’ll watch the highlights until 60ish and then switch to the full replay 😜

Sooo, on Sunday, Remco and Radej go head to head for the first time this year.
Remco joins Liege-Bastogne-Liege, fresh off a training stay up a mountain.
Tadej has been in a bunch of the classics. And sometimes full on in the race from far away or going solo for the last xyz kms.
As one Bob of EG fake used to say... Could go either way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I wouldn't be surprised if the freshest athlete takes it this weekend.

Pog is seemingly never not fit, but, yeah, perhaps the classics will have caught up with him a bit. If I can get fangirly for a sec I find Remco fairly dull and unlikeable so I’ll go with Hair Tuft Power.

Losing the tour last year has just made him go all hulk-smash this year it seems.

Anyone else think "wtf is Ben Healy?" after last Sunday? Nope! Pretty sure I mentioned him back on EG when he was still a kid and he's built himself up year on year. But yeah, he's been outstanding these last few weeks. Hopefully nothing dodgy.

Bollocks, was looking forward to a head to head. I hope it doesn't jeopardize his TdF preparations.

I’m really liking the squad EF Education Easy Post have pulled together. Chavez, Carapaz, Amador. Healey. Carr. Cort. Carthy. Powless. Uran. It’s like the football equivalent of the crazy gang or a team Harry Redknapp would assemble. Look on form this year too.

Yeah, it’s a surprisingly effective mix of faded riders up for redemption and up and comers punching above their weight- easy to cheer for.
