I realised how many games on my Steam wishlist are in Early Access and never get a mention here, so I thought I'd create a thread for some previews:

World of Horror is still in early access (final version coming out in June, I think) and it's pretty good. A bit unbalanced, but I played it on Game Pass last time, and it was two years ago, heard it got much better lately. I need to buy it for real before it comes out, chances are it will become more expensive then.

I saw something that looked like an actual table top game the other day and thought about posting it here. Now I can't find it. I looms like you're placing the figures in the game...thought it looked neat I did find it again but I was scrolling past it. Moonbreaker from the Subnautica devs www.moonbreaker.com/en

I was looking at Superfuse but judging by reviews they might have put it up a wee bit too early.

Good a place as any to drop some Steam Next Fest recommendations (for uninitiated: regular Steam event where hundreds of early access titles, skewing heavily indie, drop demos for the duration of the event) Darkest Dungeon 2 - same excellent combat model and art style as first one, tuned a bit, now 3Dish while still papercraft, but the wraparound the fighty bits has moved from a town to a roguelike roadtrip & I'm not sure its landing for me as a result Capes - nu-XCOM but with superheroes and very distinct comic book story styling, would be all over this but I'm a bit burnt out on xcom-likes lately Sons of Valhalla - side on pixel art base building and strategy RPG survival thingy, looks very tempting

This is a hell of concept: imagine building a city on the back of The Wind Fish from Link's Awakening as it warps through space.

Today I learned that they are making a new Hawken... store.steampowered.com/app/705040/HAWKEN_REBORN/And it seems to be single player PVE now (with coop coming later). Weird. I won't say no to a new mecha game, but I enjoyed the few hours of PVP that I played years ago. It was an interesting middle way of standard FPS and mecha action. But then I guess it failed anyway. Pretty sure it's F2P again, so I might give it a go and see how it is.

Shadows of Doubt
Procedural crime detective detective simulator! God there are so many games I want lately.
Still has bugs but all the previews and first looks of this are going nuts over it.
Generates a city block with buildings full of apartments with people for every address who have their own thoughts, likes, desires etc.
You can visit every apartment.
Somebody dies,
Solve it!
Edit: I purchased this last night as one of my 'laptop games' but it ran like 4-15fps even on very low settings. Refunded it until I have less other stuff to play

Do you love a factory production game but don't quite like having some avatar that you have to move around to carry out your whims?
Captain of Industry might be for you as you just float the camera around RTS style. I really want it but with Starfield within spitting distance I've put it off until I can put some time into it.
It's more grounded'ish than factorio but 3d and terrain manipulation via mining and dumping.

i've been punting Captain Of Industry in every RPS comment section I can find, put dozens of hours into it, including today, very strong recommend if factorio-likes are your thing
edit: promise I'm not paid by them, but yeah Captain of Industry, shit SEO optimisation on the name, good game. Factorio is still the original and the best, Dyson Sphere Program does 3D and does it well but the inter-connectedness (that a word?) of the tech tree and recipe book isn't quite there. Satisfactory has the best map but doesn't quite land as the complexity increases. Captain of Industry has an amazing recipe book and tech tree, alternate recipes for everything, pleasing ratios. There are a lot of factorio-likes now but only four good ones - Captain of Industry is one of the good ones.

well you're not helping. I love a good factory'em'up, with many hours I factorio and DSP alone. What's going to happen is I'll not be able to get on the main pc to play starfield and will purchase this as my laptop game on the side. I want to do a giant swirling open cast pit mine

My early access stuff I'm keeping watching on is what I think is going to ideal for my new steamdeck. Death must Die. Very much a mashup of Halls of torment and hades. Ever building hordes in a large single environment with loot drops that can be refused and visual art style like halls of torment plus a god base boom mechanic with and isometric like Hades. store.steampowered.com/app/2334730/Death_Must_Die/Below the stone. I think this is early access but it's like a mining/foraging extraction roguelite. Very much in the vein of the mining side thing in stardew. store.steampowered.com/app/1170230/Below_the_Stone/ Deep Rock Galactic Survivor Sounds very much like the above but without the extraction bit and more of a bullet hell auto shooter like VS but with mining. I also think if this runs on the SD the it should look the tits on the OLED with the lava rocks. store.steampowered.com/app/2321470/Deep_Rock_Galactic_Survivor/

Death Must Die is well worth a purchase if you like the genre. They were a bit heavy handed with nerfs, and endgame content was a bit lacking when I played it, but still plenty to keep you occupied for a while. Roadmap looked solid and it's probably time for me to jump back in and see what's new.

I tried Death Must Die on the Deck last month but it was packed with graphical bugs, like the entire background missing at one point. Gameplay seemed promising enough, but the humour missed the mark in places.

DMD on PC is actually fucking sick, so I imagine it will be on the deck too (at some point?).

I currently have 5 excavators carving a big hole down into the ground for coal, dirt and rocks and my belted bus is underway

Len's Island is getting closer to a full release planned for sometime this year, and looking really nice in it's newest landmark update.
It's also 40% off until June 3rd. (Now £12.59)

This left early access recently and is now v1.0. They just added a city map as well. When I get a bit more free time I think I'm going to get stuck into it.
