The outfit look is kept and can be used to transmog your actual gear even after you sell it.

That's handy to know. I've found a couple of rather fetching robes while exploring Hogsmeade but their stats were a bit shite.

Yeah I was surprised to hear it lets you transmog.

They’ve added a transmog serial killer in to balance things out iirc

In my day you only had Unimogs... I imagine that'd be awkward to maneuver around the halls of Hogwarts.

Would've been funny if they gave it to John to do.

First time I've seen Richard review something for a long while. Prefer his videos to be honest, no nonsense for the most part, given how many performance modes he had to get through he kept it short and to the point. Would have been 57 minutes long if one of the others had done it.
Xbox versions are a bit of a stuttering and frame dropping shitshow at times.
Although, that said, I've been playing it this weekend on Series X and I'd argue it's a fair bit more stable than that video in my experience. Not sure where we are patch wise at this stage mind you.

I have the Series X version. It stutters a lot in the Castle and at Hogsmead. It seems like it does this when it streams in textures (that's my take anyway), because if you wait a few seconds in an area where there are stutters, the stutters will all go away. Its not until you start running about again and the stutters come back.
It definitely needs some improvements, but luckily it doesn't detract from the experience and I am still having a blast.

So I've clocked up 40 hours but still haven't explored half the map - so much to distract you. I just love the atmosphere...reminds a bit of where I live in the Cotswolds (minus the massive sheer peaks). I'm not even bored with my character saying "Hogwarts is so cosy" or somesuch - cos, well it is. Just a charming game and the combat is great too.

Yeah Im 30 hours in and checked how many main quests I've done - 4 out 25. So I might need to pick up the pace before I burn out!

There are a LOT of side missions as well, as well as the friend missions. Some of these are quite interesting as well.
I am just over 40 hours in and also half of my map is unexplored. I have a rule that I never venture to a new region until the main story takes me there.

I have a rule that I absolutely refuse to do any main quests ever in any game, and if it tries to force me to do that I’ll uninstall it and never play it again.

I haven't done much story, not even got to my first class yet!
I keep on seeing stuff I want to do or a puzzle I want to solve.
I get very strong Fable vibes personally.

I'm 30 hours in and have just finished the 2nd challenge. Been mixing it up between side quests, main quests and ooh, what's over there?
It's such an odd game because it is very much a typical open world ubi-type with plenty of collectathon stuff but I'm just not finding it tedious at all. The setting and general ambiance is quite special and the combat is much better than I thought it would be.
Tempted to push it up a difficulty but it is such a chill game to play, I don't want to spoil it.

I have a rule that I never venture to a new region until the main story takes me there. What if it doesn't take you there? This is one aspect of open worlds which needs addressing. I like to visit new place if there is a reason to do so especially as part of the main mission - nothing quite like going back to a place you visit whilst exploring only for the game to take you back there ("oh I've been here already and cleared the area"). A question I always have in my mind when exploring is "am I supposed to be here yet?". I'd rather not venture any further if it is part of a quest.

I have never played an open world game before where the main missions have never taken you to all regions on the map. No reason to think this one will be any different. Once I enter a new region I will then explore fully, but not before the game makes me go there.

I have played games before where I have gone off the beaten path and found an interesting location and/or object but for some reason couldn't work out how to progress. Turns out I shouldn't of been there yet as it was part of a future quest.

It's the quaint little villages with there impossibly shaped structures.... Or the little jingly pieces of music that plays occasionally... Or the fact it's quite light hearted. It captures the fable vibes perfectly.

Also the Xenoblades almost never pull you to every part of their areas, not even with sidequests. You technically go through every area to go through the story, but if you only stick to where the story tells you to go you're missing out on a lot.

I have a rule that I never venture to a new region until the main story takes me there. This is the exact opposite of how I played Morrowind. Then again, I played that for over a year and I don't think I did *any* of the main quest. I couldn't even tell you if there was a main quest.

There is, and it's actually more interesting than most main quests in Elder Scrolls games - it's about fulfilling the prophecies of the Nerevarine. You likely did some of it, given you are the Nerevarine, though as you suggest it's hardly centre stage.
I recall getting a notification at one point after I killed an important NPC, something along the lines of "the threads of fate have been severed..." basically telling me the main quest could no longer be completed but I was free to carry on (I reloaded).

GoW Ragnarok had a fantastic late game new area that you'd totally miss if you just stuck to the main story.

Don't mistake me, I don't just stick to the main story. I am talking about large, main areas on a map which I don't visit until the game takes me there. I will still fully explore everywhere, I just find that most games will take you to those regions when they want you to.
If by the end of the game there are some areas unexplored, then I will go out of my way to explore them.
Take Hogwarts for example, I am about 40 hours in and I have explored nearly every nook and cranny of the top half of the map. However, the bottom half of the map is completely unexplored. As soon as the main game takes me that way, I will be exploring like crazy. I won't miss anything at all.

I'm in the explore everywhere before you start camp. If I can get to it I'll rinse it and then come back again if a quest requires me to.
