Anyone else into this series? The N-Gage port is coming out in less than a week, so I thought it'd be good to have a place for it.
It's going to be day 1 for me, often I'll wait on games but a new Fire Emblem is the exception.

*raises hand*
Although I'm behind, I was planning on finally starting Three Houses sometime this last year and then everything conspired against it (and I still have Fates and half of Shadows of Valentia in the backlog, ugh...)
N-Gage looked a bit odd to me when it was first introduced but it seems like it's scaling back on some of the newer mechanics so might seem more familiar to me after all. Then again, they seem to have gone a bit overboard with how effective the weapon triangle is now and I'm not sure how I feel about that...

My trail of half completed Fire Emblem games, going back to the first western GBA release, is also long (and I haven't even started Three Houses properly despite having already bought the season pass (on sale) as the amount of social stuff sounds off-putting). I did relent and pre-ordered Engage last week though...

I’ll probably get it. Not sure I like some of the design choices, going from the videos Nintendo’s uploaded to their channel, but I’ll give it a chance at least.

Nfi if that's true or not, but it would be nice if it was.

Love the combat, really not overly keen on the rest of it, feels like (really long) padding on the way to the next battle.

I played awakening and loved it. Never played another one. Three houses is on my list after persona 5. So might get round to it next year haha.

I like Fire Emblem but prefer Advance Wars for my Nintendo strategy fix (still hoping the remake will come out soon). Like others I've started a lot more FE games than finished. I can't put my finger on why exactly but after a couple of hours I often just quit.

I skipped Three Houses, but will be on board for this one. Main character aside, it looks lovely. Just hope the secondary gameplay is dialed back as we've all heard.

One piece of info that concerns me is that someone is finding it really easy. When you use the engage mechanic you are almost invincible and you can have lots of characters that can do it. He was only about 10 hours in though so couldn't say if that was the case throughout the whole game.

Honestly, Fire Emblem nowadays has enough difficulty levels that it's doubtful you won't find one that will challenge you (and if not, you can always restrict yourself a bit). The hardest ones can get legitimately unfair at times (and that's intentional). If you watch some Awakening playthroughs on Lunatic+ for instance, you pretty much have to pick a god and pray for the first few chapters and it doesn't get much easier than that unless you actively go out of your way to find cheeses.

From memory, Three Houses had two to start with. The lowest basically played the game for you. The middle one was probably the best balanced, but still slightly easy. And Maddening, which was way hard, and not really in a fun way.
I hope it's a bit more tuned in this one. Something between Hard and Maddening/Lunatic would be perfect for what I want.

I still remember playing the second DS remake (the Japanese only one) and getting killed on the tutorial level...

When it comes to games like this, I don't mind a high difficulty. Its quite enjoyable replaying missions with a 'refined' strategy. I think thats what got me hooked to Awakening in the early missions.
Gradually, however, the game gets easier as I absolutely have to do every single side mission available before progressing the story.

I think with perma death on it does make you think about your moves more. Looking forward to this.

I've enjoyed FE on GBA and DS. I even finished one once! Not played the last couple though. I will put this on my list.

I do like the Fire Emblem series and played them from the early western releases on GBA and GameCube, but I gave up on Fates and Three Houses has sat in a cupboard untouched since release. The direction the series was going (with all the social and dating nonsense between battles) really didn't appeal to me.
I do have Engage ordered. Whether I actually play it is a different story.
And where's the Advance Wars remaster?!

I doubt they will release it before the war in Ukraine is over.

I still haven't started three houses, but couldn't resist this for £39 seeing as it'll still be that kind of price years from now.

This comes out tomorrow right? No way I am finishing Rabbids before then. I've seen a few reviews and it looks real good. The visuals are way more polished this time around. Everything looks nice and clean. Everything except the protagonist. But I have seen worse.

I think the protagonist just really needs to commit to a hair colour.

I've started a playthrough of this on Maddening, because I've heard from people that it's a good balance between the Hard and Maddening difficulties in Three Houses.
Also, it's apparently possible to lower the difficulty once during the game. So I figure I can just drop down to Hard if Maddening becomes too much.
Anyway... it's a real pretty game, and I'm enjoying it! I also love how Marth being in it is supposed to be this big deal, as if he hasn't been in every modern FE in some shape or form.

I'm really enjoying this! So far (on chapter 5) there's been far less of the dating sim stuff. And tactically it's very interesting. Yes every character has a Super Saiyan mode, but it doesn't last long, and it doesn't make you invincible. And THE WEAPON TRIANGLE IS BACK, BABY.
Early days yet, but so far I think it's better than Three Houses.

Argh! This game is so good! It looks better, the maps are better, it plays better than any recent Fire Emblem.
And the AI is better! It doesn't have a death wish anymore, so I can't just park Louis on a fort and watch a dozen swordsmen kill themselves on the end of his lance. I ACTUALLY HAVE TO USE TACTICS, I'd forgotten how satisfying that was.
And the difficulty isn't too brutal either. You get 10 rewinds per battle, even on Maddening. So if I screw up I've got basically 10 lives to play with.

I'm enjoying Rabbids too much to abandon it, but I'm very nearly finished with it. Once I am I will be all over this. Hope they add a no-feet mode for Awakening fans.
