Book Two of Batman: First Knight out now. The release dates between each one are moving further and further apart for some reason? First one was 5th of March, 2nd one 9th of April, third one won't be until 21st of May according to the Forbidden Planet listing?

Watching X-Men 97 and rewatching Spaced has got me in the mood to read some X-Men but looking at the collections they had in the shops this weekend I’ve realised I’ve got no idea what could possibly make for good jumping on point nevermind a clue as to what’s happened over the last 15-20 years.
Any pointers before I just retreat into buying a bunch of 80s Claremont and collections of 90s crossovers I’d bought half of in floppies at release?

Sorry to be all European and stuff, I'm too lazy to check if these have English editions. I put in some pretty pictures to try to make up for it.
Vei
Vei is a human(-ish) champion of the Jötunn and ends up having to compete in a game between the giants and the Aesir. The Aesir have always won through trickery, but Vei gets some unexpected (or very expected if you know Norse myths) help leveling the playing field. The peace between the gods and the fate of the world ends up hanging in the balance. The usual stuff.
I liked this a lot. Big Swedish graphic novels are basically nonexistent in this cultural wasteland, and it's nice to see a different take on Norse mythology that isn't stupid for a change.
Tirésias and La Gloire d'Héra
Greek mythology, the first about Tirésias who gets turned into a woman for seven years for being a horrible sex predator and the second is the origin story of Heracles (the dark version). I didn't love these, but they're a solid "good".
Ténébreuse
Dark fantasy story with a dash of romance. The story is very simple, but I liked it well enough. It's also very pretty, which always helps.
Astrid. Vulkanmånens kult (Astrid: Cult of the Volcanic Moon, I guess?)
Another Swedish one, but a lot lighter than Vei. It's odd that Kim Andersson seems to have written it in English and then it was translated back into Swedish, and it's very obvious at times. Anyway, Astrid is a space cadet at The United Galactic Coalition for Interplanetary Peace but gets kicked out when she's accused of cheating. She gets called back for a secret mission but ends up stranded on a strange moon where a 'orrible cult does 'orrible things. It's a decent puply sci-fi comic but definitely written more for tweens/teens. I don't generally mind stuff for kids, but this wasn't quite for me.
