I made this a new thread so everyone can see it and help me because I'm needy like that. Basically I'm installing Mass Effect Andromeda. Don't ask me why, but I played a big chunk on the Xbox last year and rather liked it. I wanted to go back to it on PS5 as it was only a fiver (that turned out to not be a fiver as I had a fiver worth of points to spend), plus the Mass Effect LE being added to Plus reminded me that I wanted to get back to it.
Anyway. None of this matters.
What's weird is - and this hasn't happened with anything before - is that it fully installs until I start the game. Then I get a notification saying that "something went wrong" and it's not finished downloading. In game, on the menu, it says "90% complete" and for the life of me nothing I can do will get it to continue. So far (an hour or so in) and it's fine, but I wonder if I'll hit a point where the game says "fuck you" and stops me from doing any more.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled, as well as repaired game permissions and no joy.
Anyone had this before? Any tips beyond "don't play that piece of shit, play the trilogy instead as it's better"? We all know I like shit games so don't even start.

I was also thinking of playing this recently - I thought it was just considered to be kind of OK now but nothing special. Can't help with your problem though (turn it off and on again?) but I hope you are able to solve it. I don't like to see anyone stuck at 90%

It's not totally shit and did play pretty well from what I remember, but I did reach a point a few planets in where I just couldn't be bothered with continuing.
As for the problem, fuck knows.

I'm one of the few people who enjoyed the game, so kudos for trying. I don't have technical advice, played on PC without any issues. But anyway, Andromeda has a HUGE world to explore and its combat is head and shoulders above any of the original trilogy. I hope you manage to resolve your issue and play this excellent game, believe me it's worth it especially if you enjoy action games set in space/ on foreign planets as I do. Plus it has one of the sexiest female co-pilots I've ever encountered in a videogame. (Still can't erase that sexy accent from my mind).

edit: more helpfully it maybe worth rebooting the PS5 into safe mode and using the rebuild database option, it may sort out the 90% issue.

I did have a few issues installing something a while back actually now that I think about it. Pretty sure I went into settings and then storage and deleted it there, then tried to install again.
Might be worth digging around and see if there's an option to repair console storage in there too.

So I fixed it. Such a weird thing but essentially - even though it only has 4gb to go, I had to make more than 100gb additional space then resume it. Bobs your uncle.
So yeah, weird as hell. I’ll get back to my interminable game now. If it happens to anyone else, then just make an additional shit load of space.

Was going to say it installed fine for me when I tested (got to love having internet fast enough to call installing a 100GB+ game a test)
But then I've got like 1TB free on the external disk I'm using for PS4 stuff.

Used to need twice the space of whatever you were installing as a guide, whereas the various Xbox used some compression or something ? |
