Feel like Moon Night has the same pacing issues as Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but that episode has pulled me back in!

Cracking episode, certainly the last twenty minutes. I feel this series started really strong with a good mix of spookiness and weirdness but all the wandering around Egypt kinda dragged. Hopefully we're back to full-on weird and it's going to kick up again.

I'm watching What If at the moment and it's like a breath of fresh air. I love that it's different to the usual. That said, the Zombie episode was shit.

What If really takes a great turn in the later episodes, and seems to have a lot of tie ins to Doctor Strange 2, e.g. looks like one of the multiverse characters is going to be Captain Carter

Even if it didnāt impact upon the movies that Dr Strange What If episode was a proper standout MCU story all on its own.

The zombie one was pretty poor, felt like a story that had about half of it missing, maybe season 2 will complete it. It does look like it'll have an impact on the Doctor Strange movie though.

Booked my tix for Doctor Le Strange. Wanted to see it in IMAX so had to book a morning screening, which feels scandalous and hedonistic.
Had to make sure I saw it on opening day just so I could actually use Twitter and YouTube over the weekend...

MoM is the first one I'm not seeing on day 1 due to the girlfriends parents being down. Won't see it until the Saturday, so it'll be a few days of avoiding everything online.

Generally speaking I usually see them the first week of release, but I try to avoid day one because I don't like the theatre to be too rammed. I think I may have seen Spider-Man on the first day, again to try to avoid spoilers. It gets a bit ridiculous when prominent stuff ends up in the Twitter "trending topics" bar, although to be fair it's normally TV shows that are the big culprit for that sort of spoileriness.
Maybe stay off the desktop site until you've seen the film!

Had the chance to watch No Way Home in the movie theater this morning. But woke up late, read ebooks and watched Derry Girls instead. Whoops.

Iāve not been to one in the cinema for years but the only one I really regret only seeing on tv is No Way Home. Iām not precious about spoilers in general so knowing who was in it wasnāt an issue but there are so many Big Reveal moments in the way it was directed for their arrivals it felt awkward and a bit gimmicky sat by myself in the living room but probably wouldāve felt huge in a theatre with an audience.
Still a very entertaining film though, obviously.

The best one for that sort of thing was Endgame. That's one of the few screenings I've been to where there's been genuine whooping and hollering. Normally I'd have thought that would annoy the hell out of me but I was totally swept up. One of the best experiences I've ever had in a cinema.

It is one of the disappointments about No Way Home coming out during pandemic times. I did see it in the cinema, but I picked a late mid-week showing that only had maybe a dozen people in that were silent. Normally an ideal cinema experience, but for this film I would have enjoyed a bit of whooping.

It was a little underwhelming in the cinema. If the Internet hadnāt been plastered with the āsurpriseā cast then it might have been amazing or spectacular.

I waited for streaming for No Way Home. Cinema whooping would be annoying, you go for the big screen and sound not to hear audience members.
I did watch Dune fairly late on in its cinema release (small audience, nice and quiet) but that is only film since start of 2020...
Debating going to Strange 2 with family at some point in second week when it still has big screens but less people

The Underwhelming Spider-Man seems to be what Sony are basing their spinoffs on.

Up to date with Moon Knight as well now. Agree, I was starting to grow cold on it and it had slipped way down my priorities but this latest episode was a lot of fun. Highlight of the series so far.

After all the talk, it was quite clever what they did to explain Oscar Isaac's wonky accent. he's learnt his English accent from an over-the-top ham in a low-budget Indiana Jones ripoff.

I wasn't sure what to make of that latest Moon Knight episode, but I guess it will be explained.
I still liked it though! A couple episodes (including that one) were directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the indy guys behind The Endless. They're very good!

Tangentially linked to this topic, I've just started playing Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
What an absolutely great game and I'm having such a fun time with it. Really enjoying all the characters and the writing has been surprisingly great. The combat can at times be a little weightless, but the interactions with the rest of the team are handled brilliantly and you aren't fighting with the controls to execute them in the heat of a fight.
Just encountered a Stan Lee nod that was really delightful.
The game sort of passed by people and seemed to get some just okay reviews. If others skipped it, then I really recommend checking it out. Playing it through Game Pass on PC and pleasently surprised at how well optimised it is, able to max it out, including ray tracing, on my 2080 super (albeit with quality DLSS enabled at ultra-wide 1440p). Looks fantastic and plays solidly too.

I feel like it will get reappraisal from reviewers later down the line mostly because I think many people are probably looking at it through the lens of Avengers, Square Enix's previous game and believing it's similar in structure. I mean it's that kind of game that only reveals itself when you actually sit down with it so on the surface you're probably only going to see the admittedly lightweight combat which works against it.

I really want to play it, but I kinda want to finish Avengers first. I'm quite enjoying the story and gameplay of that, although it's almost buried beneath all the live service-style rubbish.

Itās a cool experience but the moment to moment gameplay aināt that great. The story and design elevate it but the combat got *really* boring.

It was also a game that was poorly marketed. On its initial reveal at E3 it dominated most of Square Enix's presentation when people were expecting a rapid fire announcement of games and its best strengths don't demonstrate well in that format.
I prefer the Guardians in the game compared to the movie. Rocket and Groot are largely the same but I prefer Mantis, Starlord isn't such an idiot and Drax and Gamora have greater depth.
I'm enjoying Moon Knight so far, Oscar Isaac carries it but I've seen a wide range going from its the best MCU show to the worst.
