I’ve not played it but I was half expecting a Marvel reskin of Mass Effect 3 with wacky dialogue and service station power ballad compilation soundtrack from the trailers.

I probably should play it. But one of the Lego games had a trophy for running around the level whilst the entirety of Mr Blue Sky played. The only game I have ever used the elastic band on the controller. As much as I genuinely love the GoG soundtracks, that song can fuck off.

I was wondering why GOG soundtracks were a factor, but then I realised it's probably the other GoG

Oscar Isaac really doesn't do things half arsed. Fantastic acting in this episode. Surprised next week is the finale, got the feeling it's going to be rushed.

What’s wrong with Mr Blue Sky? I can't help but think of Alan Partridge when I hear ELO.

Thought I recognised the voice for Taweret - turns out it’s the actresses only role listed on IMDb so maybe not !!
Enjoyed this week and it’ll be a shame to watch the last episode next week and say farewell to the series. I feel there’s a whole lot more story to tell, and I don’t think they’ll rush it. Or I hope they don’t. Isaac was done such good work on this it’ll be nice to see him do more.

Speaking of music, some of the tunes in moon knight have been pretty good. I liked the one over this weeks credits quite a bit.
And, yeah, good episode. I’m never usually keen on episodes like this, but they made it quite interesting. Shame the hippo recorded her dialogue on some old earbuds though. That was really distracting.

I’d be interested to see if the TV characters make a move to the big screen adventures. Isacc’s can carry a film, and Moon Knight could be a member of the Avengers. He’d fit in with Dr. Strange, Thor and Wanda. His physical approach keeps him in the realm of working alongside Sap and Winter Soldier. But is it too big and ask of a movie going audience to invest in the TV output?

They seem to have mainly tried to keep the tv shows 'optional' in that they add in background or 'in-between' events to the movies, but they can be skipped without getting confused about the movies.
I imagine they could add in a few TV characters like Daredevil or Moon Knight without too much trouble, they'd just need a quick refresher introduction on the big screen for those that haven't seen the shows.

That was surprisingly heavy episode. I was wondering why this series had a “16+” rating so I suppose the subject matter pushes it up. And yeah what a tremendous actor Oscar Isaac is.
About TV characters appearing in movies - Ms Marvel and Monica Rambeau (from Wandavision) are reportedly in Captain Marvel 2 (“The Marvels”) so they clearly have this in mind. Whether it will be as major characters or just small parts remains to be seen!

They’ve said Moon Knight will be in films at some point in some form. It does feel perfect for big budget tv though.

I think we’re probably more likely to get pair ups, cameos and maybe a big event where they all appear rather than a proper team up again.
After the Avengers had all the A-listers it’d seem a but Lidl to build a movie around Hawkeye, Florence Pugh, Moon Knight and Falcon as the new dream team

There will definitely, 100% be another Avengers movie, but you're right in that I think they'll take their time to build up to it. It's not going to have the wow factor of the first Avengers, let alone Endgame, just because we're used to seeing these guys team up in movies now. So I think they'll need to get the story right, I don't think it could just be some cataclysmic event again. I'd actually be up for a TV series that focused on Cap putting together a new Avengers now all the famous ones are gone.
(as an aside, I think Marvel are very slowly gearing up for some kind of multiple-team-mashup movie; I think we'll see a "core" Avengers team, plus Young Avengers, plus "Thunderbolts" or whatever they end up being, plus Eternals, plus Fantastic Four, plus maybe even the X-Men...)
As for the TV characters jumping to movies, I think Marvel's always had to juggle the fact that not everyone will watch every film. Going into Avengers, I feel like they had to be aware that not everyone would have seen Thor or The Incredible Hulk or whatever. I guess it's easier because whilst these guys weren't exactly Superman/Spider-Man level in terms of global familiarity, most people probably had at least a vague idea of who they were by that point, whereas Moon Knight (or even Shang-Chi, to be fair) are practically unknown.

I think the incredible Hulk was well known before the Avengers movie.

Hulk was probably their most well known. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Dr Strange etc we’re all pretty much unknown by the masses.
When Iron Man came out I remember a lot of talk that Thor and Cap were so unknown and they were a huge risk as they were unknown, cheesy and weird.
They could make almost anything at this point.

Hulk must have been up there with Spiderman and X-Men at the top of Marvel’s brand recognition tree.
Iron Man, Cap, Thor were all B-level heroes in terms of public recognition even if they were hugely important to the history of the comics universe.
I think the big difference with the current crop is that while the original Avengers weren’t super high profile they were at least on the cusp of being household names thanks to previous adaptations and cartoons. Most of the heroes they’re bringing online and into cinemas now are basically total unknowns and its the MCU brand which is drawing people in rather than the heroes bring viewers to the MCU.
But they’ve got the formula so dialled in that it almost doesn’t matter because the quality is so high they can adapt almost anything.

Disney probably makes far more money from Disney Plus than they could hope to make from cinemas. They’d effectively got me paying them for 7-8 movies worth per year, and they don’t have to give any cut of that to cinemas, and you can bet they don’t pay any tax.
I was only just think how Eternals is the only team movie other than Avengers series, and it was effectively a flop. $400 million box office on a $200 million production budget, the equation being that a movie has to make double it’s production budget to break even when you factor in marketing. Disney plus warps that figure, so only Disney rally know what engagement the movie had, but I expect they will be cautious about shelling out Waterworld money for some untested team movie again any time soon.

I think they'll be more wary of what director they choose and also perhaps move these kind of projects as a Disney+ project rather than a big budget tentpole.

I haven’t actually tried watching it again on Disney Plus. I’ve been wondering if seeing it on TV would solve the terrible “it’s too fucking dark” cinematography problems I had at the cinema. I could barely see the first the first half of the movie,

Yeah, it's dark as fuck on a home screen for some reason too. Thought it was HDR acting up as it was the first thing I checked out, but other stuff is absolutely fine.

I didn’t think it looked dark in D+ but I was probably more distracted by trying to engage with uninteresting characters doing things that felt weightless in terms of action and connection to previous MCU lore

I would be really interested in a proper autopsy of Eternals just to see what went wrong. Chloe Zao obviously has talent but if you look at her CV, Eternals really does stick out like a sore thumb. Did it suck because studio interference prevented her from realising her actual vision? Did it suck because it was just too big for her and the studio didnt interfere enough?

The script/story was boring, the cast were largely poor/had zero chemistry and any charisma failed to come through on screen, the bad guys were awful generic demon things, he directing is disjointed - it’s like two different people directed it, the lighting is terrible and too dark.
I suspect Marvel wanted to try giving more freedom but she’s not an action director and that doesn’t fit with the rest. The non action parts are generally boring which is mostly the script and cast.
Introducing them like this may have been a mistake, at least having some of them appear in the background or treated in something else first could have helped.
