I read something the other day that Disney are investigating what it would cost to purchase Spidey back.

The current fun rumor (which Iām pretty sure is bullshit but is fun to think about) is that theyāre going to gauge the interest in the returning Spider-men in NWH and possibly do more with them instead of Tom Holland. Allegedly Raimi is interested in using that and Dr Strange 2 to make his own Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Parker starring.

I donāt doubt theyāve been doing it for ALL their scattered IP. Look what they had to do to get X-Men and Fantastic Four. Iād really like to see them get Hulk, although itās probably worked in their favour to use him as a supporting character, because heās a hard one to make a good movie out of I think. But weāll never see The Leader as a villain until they do. Just getting Fantastic Four gives them so much scope to use more villains. It would be great to see a proper take on Galactus and Doctor Doom someday, the previous versions have been very mediocre.

Oh fuck, I didnāt even make the connection between Doctor Strange 2 / Sam Raimi / Spider-Man. I guess that HAS to be the other film he appears in before the contract expires.

That third What If was such a step down from the first two. Felt like the prologue to what the actual story is going to be.

That third What If was such a step down from the first two. Felt like the prologue to what the actual story is going to be. I enjoyed it more than the Black Panther one. It had an intriguing premise, and I didnāt see the twist until it was more ore less spelt out. I also liked how it took one of the MCUās lesser characters, and showed what they were capable of with a different motive. I think it bodes well for the future.

Some wild shit coming from reputable leakers at the moment. Take it with a grain of salt though. A big multiverse fight in Dr Strange 2 will have Patrick Stewart as Xavier/Onslaught

Being a big fan of their home series that feels like a major event for me, moreso than Kang, but itād be a bit out of the blue for the MCU to throw that in with no context

If only they had some method to de-age actors so they can continue to play roles to death, to death!

Yeah itās less that they might have to de-age him and more that heās 81 and unlikely to have another 10-20 years of acting in him.

I think the question no one has asked is, do we even need another X-Men movie? Thereās been 15 or something. Theyāre so tapped out they did Dark Phoenix twice and it sucked both times.
I think the main advantage to the MCU of the Fox purchase was Fantastic Four and the attached rogues gallery. Galactus, Doom, Annihilus, Namor are probably the big ones, but I think thereās dozens of characters that are part of that IP. I want to see Mole Man in a movie.
Arguably only Spider-Man is better in terms of the value of his supporting cast, which could be epic in its earning potential for Sony if venom, morbius, kraven, sinister six movies eventuate and are / continue to be successful.
One disadvantage to Disney is that theyāve made the Spider-Man IP so much more valuable through the Homecoming trilogy that theyāll have a hell of a time buying it.

But on the other hand, Sony left to their own devices can really fuck up a movie franchise which they've proved countless times.

Thereās a lot more to xmen that I assume they could tap into, the films so far have pretty much been wolverine, Xavier and magneto. Iāve never really read any of the xmen but as itās been going 60 years or so then Iād assume thereās more they can do with it.
Itāll be at least a few years until there is one anyway, even if they start to slowly drop hints in this year about them. Iām sure their plan is either the multiverse or the blip being the cause.

Admittedly theyāre my favourite superhero franchise (comicswise) but I think thereās real potential in the X-Men still even if theyāve been horribly served by Fox.
I suppose its the benefit of hindsight but Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix should have been tent pole stories not just chucked in with zero build. In MCU terms theyād have been Avengers team-up level stories rather than solo films if that makes sense.
I suspect the way to save them as a cinematic property is to do the opposite of what Fox ended up doing. Go back to basics, make it about the team and the mutant world like the first two films and First Class did. Instead of throwing big names at the wall and hoping theyād stick.
They probably need a rest now but something like the way Deadpool exists alongside the X-universe could be the way to reboot them into the multiverse. Maybe do a film like the first one where someone like Jubilee as a new mutant is inducted into the team again. Or do a proper X-Force or X-Factor movie first and have it reintroduce the main team that way. Its such a huge franchise and its stuck in a Xavier/Magneto/Wolverine rut that needs busting.

Fantastic Four have great villains I'd like to see more epic space entities.
Just don't make them freakin cloud monsters.

Iāve got to be honest and say I wasnāt fussed about Fantastic Four until I read Josh Hickmanās run in the comics - and now I canāt wait to see what they do with it. And yeah, proper treatment of Dr Doom, Silver Surfer and Galactus on the big screen would be tremendous.
With XMen, I do wonder if Feige is leaving a long enough time for the last films to leave the collective consciousness before doing anything - but even then, Hugh Jackman had been Wolverine for 17 (?) years so itās hard to think of anyone else in the role now.

I don't want them to rush into Doctor Doom, but he's one of the best antagonists in Marvel. Would be a travesty if he's over and done in one film.

The first Fantastic Four comics I bought (and among the first maybe 5 comics I ever bought) were the ones that introduced the Time Variance Authority, which I think might have been 250 and 251? From Memory they were traveling in time to defeat a Dr Doom from the far future (who was very shiny) but they were actually jumping about through the pages of the comic itself, and you couldnāt read it in a linear order.
This fuckery got the attention of Mƶbius and he put them in time out in the following issue.
Anyway, it was pretty cool to see the TVA in Loki given it was part of my intro to comics over thirty years ago.

I know its not the same character at all but the Namor vs Human Torch battle Alex Ross repainted for Marvels could look incredible in a movie if they repurpose it for the FF Torch

Thatās the one
I think they retconned it so that Vision is actually built from the remains of the android Torch at some point too.

Younger me was confused that the Human Torch had existed before the FF. Wasn't there some talk of Namor appearing on TV first.
