Better than Deadpool 2, not as good as Deadpool 1.
People who go in expecting the second coming of the MCU will no doubt be disappointed cos this film knows exactly what it is and that's a funny, over the top actionin, superhero piss takin, good time.
You don't go to Deadpool for serious plot time.
Exactly what it says on the tin/10

I do feel they could of gone harder on making fun of the MCU but it was fun film

Obvious spoilers for D&W what I expected was something along the lines of it sorting out the multiverse in such a way that the Disney and Fox characters were in one place and yet that didn't actually happen at all. Nothing has really changed and Happy Hogan and B-15 are the only MCU characters that are involved in the plot at all. Really nothing has changed but a Logan has switched universe.

Just back from the cinema. I'll post a proper review eventually, but the short version is: incredibly funny, and has enough cameos that there were quite a few I didn't know about.

I watched No Way Home last weekend with the kids, and I'd successfully protected them from the spoilers about who appears.
And they were like... meh. They enjoyed the movie, but weren't really that excited about most of the actors reprising their roles. Though that does partly come from the fact that they think most old white guys all look the same, so even though they've seen the original movies, they still didn't really register that Tobey Mcguire or Alex Garfield were the same people.

I don't expect the thrill of seeing them back works quite as well if you only watched the older films a few weeks ago, compared to seeing the older films 20+ years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if an older audience rates No Way Home higher than a younger audience.

The news coming out of SDCC is mental, as is me being up this late but anyway, Kang is in the bin entirely, the future is Doom. Dr Doom is being played by someone you may have heard of Robert Downey Jr WTF?!

That's a really lazy casting choice but also a we know no one cares about the new wave of MCU actors.

While its great they are not doing the Kang dynasty crap (ant man beat him which says it all) the announcement is MCU out of ideas. Sure the person in question will do amazing job as Doom, its marvel admitting they need something to get fans back when the MCU films would pull in a shit load of money
no doubt RDJ will be a stark variant of Doom then becomes good at the end and thats how you get tony stark back? You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain or both in this case.

Sigh. Just makes it sound like it’s even more multiverse shite.
There are a few charismatic actors around to have chosen from.

surprised its not Pascal, as he is in everything
edit: Mads Mikkelsen would of been great as Doom instead of generic villain in the first Dr strange film

Appreciate the attempt at spoiler quotes but there’s no way anyone is avoiding this for the next few years in the run up to Secret Wars Ed: correction, Doomsday and then Secret Wars. They really are attempting to just go the Infinity War - Endgame format, but in a massive rushed attempt.

I'd say it's pointless even trying to spoiler that bit of casting. Opened my Google news feed and it's right there, opened Reddit and the two top posts were related. One of them wasn't even in a film or comic related sub.

Said it too many times before, but they've had some excellent actors in villain roles, but almost always killed them off at the end of a single movie, which was a shame.
I don't think there'd be any issue with bringing back Mads as Doom, or another villain, given that he had such a small role, and it was with his face covered in makeup. They've done the Chris Evans thing already, so it's hardly a stretch.

They can technically do anything with the Multiverse. I hope they just fuck that off after Serect Wars and start having some rules again, because almost every multiverse movie has been shit, and those that weren’t just leant on a gimmick cameo or 3. They’ve really bungled the whole thing, but hopefully they get some more direction with the mutants arc.

with the multiverse, there is no stakes, you can kill off a character and just bring them back. they may be slightly different but its the same character. I like What if/multiverse stuff but if its done by hack writer, you get what marvel has been doing.
After endgame film they should of done the FF4 and mutants/xmen

Re: Every Multiverse movie has been shit:
Am I wrong in thinking that the only mainline multiverse movies in the MCU have been No Way Home, Multiverse of Madness and Quantumania? (Haven't seen Eternals, Shang Chi or Wakanda Forever, but I didn't get the impression they were multi-versy).
In which case, No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness were pretty great. Not seen Quantumania. Though I do get the argument that No Way Home did base a lot of its awesomeness on cameos. Which I think only really works once, and between it, Spiderverse and The Flash, I got kinda burned out on already.
I guess the very end of The Marvels was multiversy, and to the movie's detriment, but it was hardly more than a glorified post-credit cameo. It did highlight the problem with multiverse movies though, in that nothing really matters when there are infinite backup versions of everything.
My issue with the recent movies that I've seen is more that, post Endgame, they've suffered from trying to continually up the power levels and stakes, to the point where everything is some god killer or intergalactic end of the universe/multiverse type threat, and everything and everyone is superpowered.
Imho they need to get back to more grounded situations, where the hero is one of the only ones with powers. Hopefully New World Order does that.

I hope that he stay bad but with Galactus coming to throw a shoe over a pub I think he’ll end up turning - or at least leaving the door open for a turn
Shang-Chi featured a magical realm as another universe but it wasn’t multiversal in the Spiderman, Doc Strange and Antman sense

Oh, I forgot about Galactus. Another cosmic overpowered world ending threat. Just what they need.

I found Multiverse of Madness a bit bland, hardly multiverses of madness. I don't think Marvel would let Sam Raimi have multiverse that really are madness due to them wanting the mass audience. (also it really assassinated wanda's character)
