It'll probably be better than Secret Invasion at least.

If nothing else it’ll be at least four hours shorter and that is a blessing alone

If it's somehow worse than Secret Invasion I'll be very impressed, even Morbius was better than SI.

I guess it really is a case of which STI is better.

It’s especially weird given that the film will surely build to a climax where all the protags don spider uniforms, in an epic finale during the last 20 mins.
But hey let’s just show it on the posters I suppose. Just like they did with the Rhino!

I still have some weird hope that it'll be decent. Mainly based on the cast I think.
I imagine it's going to tank financially though. All-girl superhero movie tanking seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy at this point.
I wonder if Sony will make a profit on any of these live-action spiderman spinoffs. Though I assume the Venom movies have done ok.

Midway through watching Echo and it really feels like this should’ve been a 90 minute tv movie so far. Its not bad but its heavily padded.

This looks like one of those "I think I downloaded the wrong..." movie type posters. Im not massively up on my spider-man lore but I know the one in the middle is supposed to be like a 100 year old woman, but who are the other three meant to be? And at what point do they finally realise how completely insane it looks to keep spunking millions on Spider-Man movies that NOBODY WANTS BECAUSE SPIDER MAN ISNT IN IT

iirc they are different versions of Spider-Woman. Not quite sure why they're all in the same world, but I assume it's some kind of multiverse/timetravel effect.

iirc they are different versions of Spider-Woman. Not quite sure why they're all in the same world, but I assume it's some kind of multiverse/timetravel effect. It's because Sony don't care. They're all different Spider Women, but they're all together because Sony don't give a shit and are just fulfilling that contract to ensure they keep the rights to Spiderman. As far as I know it's a Spiderman prequel because a younger Uncle Ben is in it played by Adam Scott I'm sure you can work out where the film is going.

Whenever Spider-Man isn't on screen, everyone should ask "where's Spider-Man?"

Whenever Spider-Man isn't on screen, everyone should ask "where's Spider-Man?" Tell them to watch Across the Spiderverse

I'm amazed the Spider-Verse films are so good considering the other stuff Sony puts out.

I'm tempted to say because it was animation and they didn't really understand what the Spider-Verse crew were doing they let them get on with it. But to be honest Sony do deserve a bit of credit there, because they really did let them get on with it; the producers told them up front "we have this animation style we want to try but no one's ever done it across a 90 minute movie before so it might really not work at all and we won't know until it's finished" and Sony just said "yeah whatever" and rolled the dice. So, y'know, fair play.
I imagine because it was animation, not a "real" movie, and "only" cost $70m+ (or whatever it was) they weren't as invested as they were in their live action projects.

Its on Netflix now, I’m watching it.
I’m only 8 minutes in and all three scenes have been bad so far.
EDIT: eff me, 10 minutes and this is such a hack job. But on the plus side its not boring like the MCU has farted out with Eternals, Antman 2 or Secret Invasion yet.

Still funny that Sony thought the memes would cause this to be a success 2nd time around.

Still funny that Sony thought the memes would cause this to be a success 2nd time around. Its a big part of the reason I’ve eventually checked it out. Admittedly for “free” via Netflix but I wouldn’t have gone near it if it had a reputation for being boring rather than stupid.

Oh no. It's fucking terrible but I was never bored. Example, Rebel Moon is also complete dogshite but I was never entertained by it's horseshittery.
