Although some might be pleased that they have this as a good excuse to do a bit of re-tooling on the direction of the MCU.

I guess the general Joe Average audience will continue to not notice/give a shit about his replacement.

I don’t think there is a character that people could care less about. I honestly don’t think anyone would care/notice if he was never mentioned again.

He's not really the problem with the movies, so replacing him isn't going to fix them.

Whenever he wasn't on screen, I was expecting the other characters to ask "where's Kang?"

Kang is everywhere. Captain Marvel is Kang. Groot is Kang. The audience is Kang. Your mum is Kang.

Sounds like Kang Dynasty is still the subtitle for the next Avengers. Thing is, they have built up the ultimate in universe reason as to why Kang will look different in the event something like this happened
Maybe this will give them a hard pivot for Phase 6. Truth is, if they continue down the route of multiverse/timelines then I just lose interest in general. Its what put me off getting into the comics.

^ He was pretty good as a scary dude in Widows.
Kang only really crops up in Quantumania, which I haven't seen, so I have no idea how hard he'd be to replace. But I imagine quite a lot of other people haven't seen it/him either.

They could always just Army Of The Dead him and CGI someone else into the scenes, with Disney budget it might not look as bad and is the funnier option to me.

Replacing him would be hard as they made such a big deal about there being infinite versions of exactly the same person. Ignoring him would be easy as they technically finished his story as a hedge in Loki so they can just sweep it all under the carpet. It will do them a favour, tbh. All that shit was going absolutely nowhere.

Simple throwaway line that the real Kang has been hiding. Show those old clips, his face morphs into someone else on all of them and it turns out it’s someone that’s already been in it.
I dunno. Deadpool. Make it morph into him.

Surely the amount of variants in Loki means that they can easily recast him? Just get Lawrence Fishburne to play him, and have Nick Fury in the same room. Everyone will think it is the same actor, and problem solved. Just do it as part of the Super Bowl show, then interview them separately.

Surely the amount of variants in Loki means that they can easily recast him? They spent a movie and two TV shows hammering home that he is inevitable because he’s exactly the same in every timeline. He is, ironically, the most recast proof character in the entire franchise.

I think Loki gives them the perfect in universe excuse to either drop Kang altogether or recast him.
Or they could just do what happened to Colonel Rhodes or the Hound and Mountain in Game of Thrones and just do it without ever giving any onscreen acknowledgement. The movies are basically as cgi heavy as a Pixar product now anyway so its not like they’d need to do extensive on set reshoots for the rest of any cast who are busy on current Kang-centric productions

I know we've seen all those Kang variants that look like Majors, but that was in an end-credit scene of a film that underperformed and feels like a lot of people didn't care much for. I reckon if they wanted to just recast they could do it the way they did with Terrence Howard or Ed Norton (or William Hurt, technically). Stick a new actor in the role and don't acknowledge it.
But the fact they seem to be heavily retooling the next Avengers film suggests that, even if they do recast the role, they are perhaps shifting their plans away from the multiversal war that Loki and Quantumania seemed to be steering towards; or at least not making it so Kang-centric. I hope they don't do something like jumping straight into Doom without building that character up properly first because I really want to see him done well on screen for once.

They were always on a hiding to nothing after Endgame. When the MCU started, it was just nice to see a character like Ironman being given a decent movie. Avengers was the stuff of a madman's dreams. Civil War was unthinkable. After Infinity War and Endgame, they had no chance of temping expectations back down to those early levels. But they've still managed to mostly botched an impossible task, primarily by trying to beat Netflix at their own game.
