Having now watched it, the idea that the new Indiana Jones movie is the most expensive ever made is absurdly ridiculous.
I think Marvel are aware of things getting stale, but they don't really know what to do about it.
Tbf, I'm not really sure either.

Ryan Reynolds has released the first official image from Deadpool 3, worth checking out for students of Superhero Costume History in Film and TV.

Yeah Iāve said it before but superhero fatigue is mostly just lesser known IPs with lesser known actors and the films themselves being generic shite.
It does all need either a break for a bit or something to give them new life. Even the better ones like The Batman or Joker are still highly derivative of other things.

The current rumors suggest Deadpool 3 is basically going to be Fox Marvel vs Disney Marvel, and practically everyone from every Fox movie is cameoing. I havenāt read any of these specific rumours but Iād seen more of the Fox cast being involved. My impression was that it was doing a āDeadpool kills the Marvel Universeā story but where itās only the Fox side, and that leaves him to transition to the MCU proper.

Very clever making it during the writersā strike to bring it back full circle with Wolverine: Origins. Hopefully itās as good.

Considering the actors are probably going to go on strike this week I wonder when we'll actually see this or any other film ever again.

Can't imagine that the strike will go on too long if the writers and actors team up, the SAG-AFTRA strike will be global too while the WGA one has some wriggle room with international work.
SDCC is 9 days away, could be a quiet one on the movies side of things.

I can't tell if Kal is being sarcastic about Wolverine Origins being a good movie. I hope he is... The three films most famously ruined by the 2008 strike are Wolverine, Quantum of Solace and Transformers 2. The last of which literally was filmed without a script. QoS was apparently written in a day. Wolverine Reynolds had to improvise a lot of his lines. So yeah, this should be great.

I would say that that explains a lot about why transformers 2 is the worst movie ever made. But then I look at Transformers 1 and Transformers 3 and think that the strike's effect was minimal.

The first Transformers* is pretty watchable the others, the ones I could bother to watch less so, the only actually good one I'd say is Bumblebee.
*I saw it in IMAX for $5 while on holiday so that helped too.

I think this is like when I saw Batman & Robin in Spanish while on holiday in Spain, and thought it was pretty good.

But if/when the SAG strike occurs, AFAIK every Hollywood film in production will have to shut down, so there'll definitely be even more delays. As far as the writing goes, the script for Deadpool 3 was apparently locked before production and Reynolds isn't allowed to adlib. I do wonder if they have a plan to either shoot pickups after the strike concludes - with more jokes - or even dub lines in post when Deadpool has his mask on.

Also, I watched Grindhouse - the full three-hour Grindhouse, with the fake ads and everything - and thought it was excellent. As a result I've never quite got round to watching Planet Terror or Death Proof separately, as I've heard they're not meant to be very good...

Scripts being locked before shooting is not a good thing. Again some of the biggest problems with the last writers strike were caused by being unable to rewrite as they go along. Itās a crucial part of filmmaking.

I think itās underrated and a bit misunderstood. The way he leans into exploitative tropes and then flips them in the second half is really clever. Yes it has some shit dialogue and itās too long for what it is, but itās not a bad film at all.

Tarrantino added so much unnecessary stuff in to Death Proof when they separated the movies I found it unwatchable, just excruciatingly boring. The whole movie is . A brief chase scene. People sitting talking for hours . A second chase scene.

I'd forgotten it also foreshadows Deadpool 3 having Logan in it.

Itās a crucial part of filmmaking. Although too many films seem to be getting made with a script thatās too far off whatās needed, Iām sure the studios would save a fortune with a bit more time at the script stage.

Next thing you'll be telling me that the action scenes in Top Gun Maverick used cgi!!

You need to have a script before you can riff on it.
