I'm not sure how I missed that the blue bar under the compass is a noise meter for the player. I had no idea, where in the game does it tell you that?

I'm a bit perturbed to see that in the upcoming patch for next week the deadzone fix will be coming in future updates which is err something else when you decide to release a game on a console.

There’s something compelling about this game, but then I also think it’s a bit shit.

I agree its compelling but I don't think its shit, just needs a "2.0" patch. CP2077 was heavily flawed as it should of been more RPG, their devs had to cut corners to make it work on xbox one/ps4. this game has the base, just needs more work
but I have no idea how they thought some of the things like the teleporting twats, bouncing rats or any of the non human enemies was good idea

I don't remember it mentioning it at any point but I noticed when playing earlier that running around makes it get bigger (oooer) but crouching reduces its length and even walking while crouched reduces it further still. It has to be a noise/visiblity meter Going to test it again tonight I've just googled and then searched youtube and actually found it mentioned once in an IGN video.
Just in case the link to the exact point doesn't work, its at the 10:10 mark .. fuck it i'll spoiler it, IGN might make some vomit

Maybe it’s coming from half life 2 but I played about 60 mins and hated it. Will give it another go at some point but that combat was painful.

I definitely wouldn't recommend playing this on console now I'm further in. The balance of enemy health would just make it unbearable, let alone not being able to adjust the economy that's clearly absolutely fucked. My armour was at 85% condition and it wanted 9000 to repair!

It's kind of point that it's not even explained in the game. At all. I'm all for non hand holding but it's quite amusing there are just features that the game barely explains. I guess it's one of those games that only makes sense if you've played the original games but surprisingly there isn't much difference apart from much nicer graphics and actual scripted cutscenes. I'm actually tempted to reinstall the OG just see the difference.

There’s something compelling about this game, but then I also think it’s a bit shit. I know what you mean. I'm enjoying it, but... the economy's fucked, the enemy AI doesn't make any sense so you can't really get a proper gunfight going, the spawning is all over the place, and the mutant health is busted. But... I'm still having fun? There's just nothing else really like it that's the problem. All the other AAA shit is just so desperate to sand off all the sharp edges so it just has no bloody teeth. Metro Exodus is the closest thing out there, but it also had fucked AI.

I've had 3 hard crashes now. I initially thought it was because I added some mods to tweak aimbotness and mutant health but removing them and it's still doing it so who knows...

It's probably not the mods, they just change .cfg values under the hood.

My main issue is that there's a lot of stuff that seems to just get in the way of the experience. As you say it's stuff like ridiculous enemy health pools, the poor economy that doesn't reward you enough for the frankly exorbitant costs and the overtuned spawning. For me there's also the really short day cycle and of course the fucked deadzone or lack of it, I shouldn't have to use a keyboard and mouse just to fix it on a console. I understand that this game was made under extraordinary circumstances but it's still not above criticism for certain aspects that seem half baked at best.

The day night cycle is waaaay too short. I've had later run ins with the bloodsucker and some poltergeist thing now. The sucker fight started off all the fraught with nervous tension but it was completely nullified after dieing to it like 6-7 times in a row by it warping past me in the tunnel and 2-shotting me. By then i didn't care and just kept throwing my corpse at it till I found somewhere to sit and empty slugs into it. They can do one.
The poltergeist just left me puzzled. I couldnt avoid the objects being thrown, it kept build a wall stopping my movement and I was half arsing shooting it as it just felt like nothing was happening. It eventually just .. died!
All the bullshit aside, i've just been to the sphere and fought my way out with a silenced pistol and it started as stealthy, corner peeking glorious-ness. It then transitioned into cool hallway fights with my aksu. The gunplay started to feel really good where i was getting good headshots, clearing rooms with grenades and mag dumping as some guy ran across a gangway above some pipes and all my shots caused ruptures and steam to start venting.
I love it when the weather turns to shit with the howling wind and lightning, it looks so fricken cool. Also, lightning hitting anything even remotely close to me makes me jump. Everytime!
I can't wait for the patches to straighten some of this shit out.

The gunplay started to feel really good where i was getting good headshots, clearing rooms with grenades and mag dumping as some guy ran across a gangway above some pipes and all my shots caused ruptures and steam to start venting. Just did this yesterday afternoon and it was a brilliant moment! I properly had to edge my way around corners, peek over desks, hunt around for more ammo while trying to avoid detection, all in a pleasingly bleak dystopia… and running reasonably on the S (somehow). Best moment so far. Yes, absolutely agree about the issues- the enemy fire is waaaaaaaaay accurate, unlike yours, and you can’t seem to break line of sight unless via concrete. I suspect they’re all running some sort of more rudimentary “v1” routine, which they’d have polished up if they’d had time. The above sequence, but the way, had a moment of coming across about 20 hoppy rat twats, which I knew would gnaw away at me if I left them, so I wasted about 150 rounds of ammo trying to hit the fucking things while they bounced around the gaff. Again- it’s the kind of feedback more time testing would have adjusted and it’s obvious at times it just hasn’t had enough of it. Economy is indeed knackered. I’m barely bothering upgrading guns and armour because the price of fixing them in order to keep them in the future is too high. Really enjoying it though, easily my fave shooter of the year, Cod6, and all of it’s blops, can get fucked.

When fixing the healthpool of mutants and animals, they should let you loot them eg get monster tooth to sell or the hide of boar to get some money back for ammo
did the mission
where you kill the controller, zombies really? annoying boss fight and he took about 10 shotgun shells to the face, also the gun jamming was getting on my nerves
if the enemy has red broken guns, then their guns should jam

mothercruncher ahh those bloody rats were annoying, small and fast moving so its very difficult to hit them yet instantly know to hide when you're not on their level. Wasted all my pistol rounds trying to kill them and decided I wasn't going to use all the AP ammo as well. Pulled out the AK with the shitty PS rounds and crouched into the water ... so much easier to hit them on the same level as they're coming at you rather than trying to shoot down on them from above. apollo it does feel odd not being able to loot the monsters in some way. i cant even remember if it was in the old ones or if it was just mod additions like stalker anomaly/gamma. without this it feels like you're throwing money away. fully agree on the enemy should also suffer gun jams if they have red weapons, but in the heat of fight I couldn't tell if they do or not. I can't wait to get back into this again tonight.

You could loot mutants in the first game but that was it, and it was really only for fetch quest completion rather than value. I doubt they’ll add monster parts, there’s several tip screens and incidental dialog that repeatedly go “no point fighting mutants, no profit in it, just run”

I realised how bloody much accompanying game stuff weighs today- have been trying the loot the million Vipers you find around the place, keep the ammo and then sell them back at base to keep a bit of money coming in. Was always a fraction under the green/yellow encumbrance mark even starting out. Then I realised I was carrying around 57 bandages and 250 rounds of ammo for a gun I don’t even own. Have tweaked things to stick to 5 of each food, drink etc, 50 rounds of pistol ammo, 50 of the Viper stuff in case I need to swap to out to one in an emergency and then 100 for my rifle and shotgun. Can suddenly CARRY SHIT 💪

It’s still a massive faff managing inventory though, feels like a different button does a different task depending on which day of the week it is
