Need to polish off Lost Judgment and Metroid Dread ready for this. Possibly SMT IV too but we shall see if I have time to finish it.

Is there much crossing back and forth between demon world and real world in the SMT games, like there is in Persona? The trailers almost exclusively show the demon world from what I’ve seen

No. The mainline SMT games that I've played have more of a post-apocalyptic world where there has been some calamity and the real world is no more.

Cool, thanks for that. The hype train was getting me interested but not sure if it’s for me

SMT is very much more focused on the dungeon crawling aspects and isn't interested in the social link, dating sim, calendar management aspects of Persona. Always been the case and yet I fully expect reviews to criticise it for not being more like Persona.

As someone said, there's typically none of the social mechanics - the only real carry over (other than theming) is that you collect demons to fight with you
Feeling the same as you - not played a JRPG in ages and loved Nocturne/Lucifer's Call way back

Reviews out today. High scores all round, certainly on my radar. Didn't take long to see some publications like IGN say that it's an interior game to Persona which got the fanboys all rabid.

I might be somewhat interested in this obvious Persona spinoff.
Shame that nowadays I'm tired of JRPGs in general. I couldn't even get far into SMT4. Last one I have finished has been FF13, last year.

I enjoyed Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Persona 5 so I'm probably picking this one up. Haven't decided if it's a day one purchase though as the Animal Crossing update + DLC is dropping.

Anyone ever noticed that from a certain angle Mara looks a little bit like a penis

I haven't been following this - is it the usual SMT mainline fare? World is destroyed, kid uses demons to fight, get strong, kills a god? I noticed some other children in the trailer, are there Persona elements?

From what I've been hearing, this is basically SMT3-2. Guess Atlus knew what they were doing when they remastered that game before releasing this one.

Yeah I've been getting major Nocturne vibes from V. For the most part I've been avoiding plot spoilers though.

I loved SMT3. It had a really dream like quality to it - a mixture of the muted colour palette and quite simplistic art style for the environments. Hadn't played an SMT game before so when they said the world was going to end at the beginning, I wasn't expecting to actually watch the world coming to an end in the first hour or so and was quite taken aback I might pick this up. Don't know anything about it so think I'll keep it that way

Please tell me it was an 8"+ figure?... I can just imagine the awkwardness.

Not sure I'd pay $400 for a model of a dick monster
Wouldn't it already have lost quite a bit of value as soon as they opened it?

Really looking forward to this. Got all endings on III HD earlier this year, really good game. This basically looks like III but modern so removed a lot of the things that have dated. I'm away for a week on Saturday so will take the Switch with me, perfect.

What's the release date for VI?

I did some clever saving so had to replay vast bulks of the game a number of times, I believe there are six endings so took me a while!

It unlocked on Wednesday afternoon for me (Japanese release) and I'm honestly finding it a bit hard to play with the framerate. It's better in handheld but it's really quite rough on a TV. I've been considering hacking my Switch so I can just take the files off it and run the game on an emulator.
