That's my concern as well - Tomb Raider seems to be safe, if Crystal Dynamics can be believed, but just about everything else bar LotR could be on the chopping block.

They said anything already announced is fine so Tomb Raider but Deus Ex was never announced so yeah we'll see how that goes.

I've been through all of them a couple of times except Invisible War. At the time it came out I was desperate to play it, but my PC wasn't special enough in the graphics region. Now my PC is hench enough, but I'm not sure time has been kind to it The present wasn't kind to it either

I just remember my bitterness at missing the boat.

I seem to recall Invisible War getting pretty heavy criticism for departing from the original in many key respects, though my mind may be hazy on that. I've got it kicking around digitally somewhere, but my actual abiding memory of it was that stupid UI wheel/bar thing encircling the screen lol
What I'd give to go back in time and experience the original again as a teenager. Think I was fifteen/sixteen when it came out. Genuinely incredible experience. Up there with that one Christmas/Boxing Day where I played KOTOR for 48 hours straight xD

I liked Invisible War for what it was but distinctly remember Universal Ammo being absolute dogshit and some pathetic story excuse for why the levels all resembled airport terminals so they could ship the game on Xbox.

It was poorly regarded at the time. Human Revolution was seen as a return to form.

I also liked Invisible War. Not played it in forever so it might be super dated but I’ve probably got half a dozen playthroughs under my belt because it came out at a time when I replayed everything I had to death.

Invisible War both demanded the Shader version (mostly to get wobbly water with a Geforce 3+) on the latest possible cards, but had to run on an original X-Box with fuck all memory. So every single level had to fit inside 64MB, which involved all the levels being so much smaller and less interesting than Deus Ex, and just so much texture re-use / compression etc.
Same thing as Thief: Deadly Shadows but soooooo much worse.

One of the main 'hubs' in Invisible War is like 3 streets. Aside from technical issues, it's full of bellends using really stupid made up street speak and has a crap story. The RPG side of it is really 'streamlined' as well
Thief Deadly Shadows was definitely better and had some great levels. Still a massive downgrade for the series but enjoyable enough

Yeah Deadly Shadows had similar technical limits but the other Ion Storm team working on it did such a better job with the constraints.

Even the PS2 port of Deus Ex 1 felt bigger and that took the PC version, took the guard off the clippers and gave it a 0.5 all over.

I miss Human Revolution. Current-gen remaster pls. Judging by the talk of Embracer Group CEO I think they may cancel the the rumoured Deus Ex game and everything else just to focus on Lord of The Rings. I AM NOSTRADAMUS

Wouldn't it make more financial sense for them to sell off some of these licenses/studios/games rather than just cancelling them all and laying off loads of staff?

Also, given how they’ve acquired them, I can’t see anyone offering them all that much. They look too desperate as it is.

Maybe farm the license out, let other people make Deus Ex games that are less tech and labour intensive.
Give me a top down, isometric, turn based Deus Ex. If it's a failure, at least it'll be a cheaper failure.

What is even the point of Embracer, I know they’re acting as asset strippers but surely there’s a point where you have actually release some games if the ips their hoarding are going to retain their value?
Licensing makes sense if they don’t want to spend any money themselves. That way we might get new Deus Ex and they can continue to be industry vampires. Everyone gets what they want.

I thought that was a pretty safe opinion. I love that game. Now, if I said the original two Tomb Raider games were the best 3D games in the series (which is true), I might rustle some feathers, but I didn’t say that (even though it’s a completely undeniable fact).

There are a lot of games in the entire series, it's good but to say it's arguably the best IMO is a stretch. But, yes know, opinions eh?
You're wrong.

I'd quite like a Deus Ex point and click adventure game. Although really I could just play Beneath a Steel Sky or Westwood's Blade Runner for the same vibes.

Aren't there quite a few other cyberpunk style point and click adventure games too? Was it Wadjet Eye that made a load of them?
Invisible Inc and the Shadowrun games would also be pretty close to the 'top down, isometric, turn based Deus Ex' thing. Though I agree an actual Deus Ex game like that would be pretty cool.
