Anyone given this a whirl? If so would you recommend it? For those not in the know apparently it's an Sci-fi RPG set in the Chernobyl world, I need something to scratch my apocalypse gaming itch. Reviews seem slightly mixed, generally fairly positive though, supposed to look sweet.

Duffman has, he left a mini review of it somewhere I think.

I'm very interested in it. It's on my purchase list for when it next hits discounts.

Yes it's about £20 for a disc version or I think £17.50 on the PS store atm, but then I'll buy a disc so I can trade it in.

I was tempted a while back when it first came out to scratch my Stalker itch.
Might be good to play over Halloween though.

I caved, it arrives tomorrow. Awesome, update us on your thoughts. I would probably grab it but I've had a splurge over the past couple of months and bought about 7000 games so I better let the wallet cool down.

Duffman has, he left a mini review of it somewhere I think. You called... Chernobylite from Wiki: Chernobylite is a survival horror RPG set in a sci-fi open world. Uncover the disturbing secrets of Chernobyl in a 3D-scanned recreation of the real Exclusion Zone. from me: Excellent game, do not usually play Resource management games (didn't realise this was actually one!) and I probably did myself a disservice by not playing on a harder difficulty, in as much as I never felt I was in that much peril, nor that my comrades were. If I had played on higher settings I would have been forced into making decisions that may have effected the camp and mission structure. Even with that I really enjoyed the story and gameplay loop. It is not Stalker though, so do not buy if you think that is what you are getting. It is more like a Fallout game. Oh Yeah!

Had never heard of this, but tempted by the £17.50 price tag. Plus it has the Duffman deal of approval

one of the games i'm in the middle of at the moment - hovered for ages until it pinged up on a sale
pleasantly surprised by it - it draws upon quite a few different games...definitely fallout, as duff said, a sprinkle of stalker and even reminds me of games like singularity in places
i'd recommend, a no-brainer for sub-£20

I really need to play this, managed to win a free PC copy around launch but only had the quickest of looks at it. Having been to the exclusion zone would probably add to the atmosphere too.

It's Fallouty? As in an open world post apocalyptic RPG? I assumed it was a survival game so I stayed away.

yep, also the metros come to mind...there's base-building then the missions are set in separate zones so it's not technically totally open-world
all i can say is i'm a big fan of the fallout series, the metros etc and i'm enjoying this very much

Just going through the opening. Is it quite stealth heavy all the way through? If so I’m probably going to struggle as I suck so bad at stealth games.

Its promising so far. Less clunky than I was expecting. There's an hours trial on Xbox if anyone's interested. Probably same on PS4/5 but not looked.

Thanks Duff. I suck so much at stealth so a guns blazing approach is much welcome.
Looks great as well.

i'm shite at stalth as well - the only iffy bit was on the first level until i sussed out where to go...haven't needed to use stealth since...there are times when a cautious approach helps when exploring but you can quite happily twat them with firepower...

Singularity getting name dropped as well. Bloody love that game. Must. Resist. Oh dear oh no. I had bought Singularity some time ago but you made me install it. Spoiler alert: It's fucking shit. It's literally a piece of garbage. Like yeah, it's a cool atmosphere but as a game it's awful. I think it's before games companies figured out what balance is.

Another who's had this sitting on the hard drive after picking it up in the last Xmas sale. Suppose I'll have a look now everyone else is, and fired a few hours into it yesterday. I think it's a bit more Tarkov inspired, like a solo lite-version: drop in an area, hoover up the resources, fight or not, and zip out when you feel like/completed objective. And it's kinda nice. I'm guessing the number of enemies are a bit thin in these early missions, only 2-3 at once, and I like the random traders and mini events/encounters I've stumbled into.
I'm already causing problems with my base (dingy, poor air quality) but sacrifices must be made in the pursuit of a stealthy crossbow, and I should've probably built lots of herb plots and armchairs instead...but crossbow. I'd also say the stealth takedown and sneaky upgrades for your fella Igor are all but essential to make the game feel more fluid, even if you're not aiming for a stealthy style, plus no worries about the psych meter dropping out too quick. I'd definitely remember to make a lockpick or two before heading out on a mission too, as every locale has had at least one opportunity to use one so far.
So yep, definitely enjoying it, and just have to work out how to reach a hidden area on one of the areas that has a shotgun and goodies some 30m underground, thanks scanner.

It's a Raven game and very much on a par with their 2009 Wolfenstein, which I enjoyed as well. Quite liked the time manipulation mechanic as well.
