Way to demystify a great character with blatant fan service. Isn't he supposedly just conjured from James' subconcious anyway? Now he's an independent entity?

If I remember correctly, one of the endings of the last few SH games had the protaganist turn into Pyramid Head. So I dunno if that is considered canon or are they given free reign for their own interpretation. It's such a bad decision tho, imagine these ones adding to Laura's story, after what they communicated in The Medium.

I think I'll stick with the enhanced PC version for the time being. A remaster collection of all 4 original games would be welcome if handled by some capable hands, but Konami has proven they don't have what it takes to do that...

So I'm less annoyed at Blooper (who are just trying to make themselves look good to the publisher) and more surprised that Konami are allowing it as the IP holder. |

A playable Pyramid Head origin story.. I don't know why I bite at these things, but fuck me why has everything always have to have an origin or explanation? Pyramid Head is fucking frightening without him knowing he has daddy issues or some bullshit they'll make up. Next they'll make him diverse just to appease the Disney collective.

Bloober team are overrated team and the medium game was shite. Played the first layers of fear on games with gold and it was cheap jump scares. They don't have the skill or talent to create something new. PH worked best as something best not really explained
I fully expect this PH origins to be pile of old crap, some guy at ticket office will say, "what you don't have a name? you have pyramid as a head....
Also found out how he got his iconic sword... his iconic set of dice...

Observer was kinda cool, shifting into the corpses memories was a genuinely cool sequence of events, but as games, as stories...there's not much there. And The Medium was their attempt at Silent Hill and came away with a message so offensive you wonder how it even made it to release.

I'm trying to think of how you can create a survival horror experience around Pyramid Head when he's practically invulnerable and extremely powerful. It's probably just going to be a brief walking sim type section that's a pre-order/Pyramid Head edition thing to get fans to pony up. I hope he takes his hat off and talks
I don't think anyone will recapture those first 3 or 4 Silent Hill games. PT was interesting but Silent Hill in name only

It's just him trying to get through doorways and becoming increasingly frustrated. The last level takes place in the subway of Silent Hill 4 and my god he just wants to move through the trains because he got off at the wrong side and he's got an opticians appointment.

I actually enjoyed The Medium and was rather surprised by how poorly it was received. Also found the first Layers of Fear to be decent enough, though the constant world/corridor shifting ultimately served to undercut much of the horror vibe/house setting, as by virtue it really lost any sense of locational/environmental cohesion etc. To my mind, at least.
Really not optimistic about this SH2 remaster, mind. Without trying to sound patronizing and all "back in my day!", the tone struck and the language used in those initial announcements, pertaining to all these new projects within the wider IP, had me pretty concerned from the off about the general direction and those in-charge of these new installments. And that's now been brought into even sharper focus by the disastrous release of Ascension.
It just feels, again without trying to be a condescending prick, that there's a genuine lack of appreciation/understanding of perhaps why the original games resonated so strongly with so many folk, both on a thematic, narrative, and even gameplay level, and the direction/focus appears more to be taking a lead off of the stuff/culture that has grown up online around the series as a whole in the last twenty years (reddit communities, fan art/fiction, in-jokes, memes, etc.).
Unnecessary additions or changes to the original story of SH2, or any real attempt to try to demystify a lot of the more abstract elements of the narrative and characters, is going to see this get brutalized by series fans, I suspect.
