Also regarding headphones… there’s no way. This prison has me completely on edge. It’s horrendous. I’d nope out with headphones. I’m close to noping out anyway.

I found out Luke Roberts does the voice and mo cap for James, such a good actor. The brief bits I've heard from the game sounds like voice acting and performance is decent?

I would argue that headphones OR a decent sound system in general is a must when playing games or watching films. Without, you just miss out on so much as some of the quieter sounds just get completely lost. Listening on a crappy tv speaker is also much less immersive. In horror games you are missing out and it's just not the same experience imo. wunty Don't be a pussy and get those headphones on! |

As long as it's turned up loud I guess you get lots of it but I hear so much that I don't hear through my Sonos speakers through the headphones.
I'm loving it now, fully on board with why it's so revered. Some bits that don't do it for me, mainly enemy design, but everything else so far has been absolute quality. End of Blue Creek was immense.

I've been taking it really slow, honestly. Only really an hour or so each evening, between playing other things, exploring every corner, trying not to rush. Usually prefer playing horror games on a weekend, tbh (headphones on with some whisky, etc.), but I keep coming back to this ...
Finished up Brookhaven tonight. Really can't reiterate it enough but, up to this point at least, they've absolutely nailed the atmosphere, environments, and ambience. Genuinely impressed how well they've managed to modernise it whilst still retaining so much of the original. Feel the minor re-structuring, tweaks to the level design, and small changes to the puzzles have all, ultimately, been very well done.
I'll be gutted if the quality were to drop off now. It's been utterly superb for me, as a massive fan of the original.
Will definitely be going immediately through again with that stupid pizza-box Pyramid Head hat on lol

It’s definitely not dropped for me so far despite it just being horrible all round. How they turned a fairly innocuous enemy in the original into something that still puts the absolute shits up me this far in I’ll never know.

This is genuinely impressive, btw. Apparently clocked/dated at 11 October, too? So effectively when the game had only been out 3 days. To hit 1 million sales, for a horror game that's not RE, in that time frame is crazy; SH is a historic IP in it's
own right, obviously, but still a fairly niche genre, etc.
Still got Halloween and obviously Christmas coming up as well! Bodes well, hopefully, for remakes to 1, 3, and 4.

Even I had the odd doubt. Particularly that early combat trailer. In the labyrinth now though and yeah, phenomenal. The boss fights have also been absolutely superb. The abstract daddy was better than the original in every way. |

Glad this is doing the business - hopefully Konami realise there's still money to be made with this franchise.
It'll never happen but I'd love a remake of Silent Hill 4 - that's the one that would benefit the most. Or the original.

Hell, I'd take a straight Red Dead-style remaster of Revegeance if a remake isn't on the cards... but that's another topic for another thread.
