Now up to Labyrinth Still enjoying it, but not LOVING it. Something I'm liking is that it doesn't feel the need to get all kinda goofy in the way that RE and other games do to release the tension a bit, but it *is* a little one note given how long the game is so far.

12 hours in and I’m still pissing about in the hospital. I could just live in this game.

In the apartments at the mo, I do not remember it being so combat heavy ? great atmosphere though.

In the original I ran away a lot more. I don’t think you have much choice in this, in the apartments. Outside seems ok to run.

Finished. Probably give it an 8/10? Overall it's very well done, but a bit monotonous when the game is as long as this and some of the combat's a bit janky. Also it's way too generous with the ammo and health for a survival horror game. I have no idea why I got the ending I did, looking at the requiremnts.

I never thought of SH2 as much of a survival horror, just like Project Zero 2. I remember smashing nearly every enemy's face in (except outside where it was faster to just run away), and still ending up with lots of health and ammo items by the end.
I guess it wasn't trying to be like Resident Evil, but more like a horror adventure? SH1 on the other hand, I do remember being stingier with items.

Finished this last night. Pretty great remake across the board. I felt certain areas outstayed their welcome a tad, but only a minor gripe.

It's why I roll my eyes when someone asks for a longer survival horror game that's like 20-30 hrs long. Unless the game is constantly new weapons and gameplay mechanics it's just often not deep enough to justify it.

Finished this last night. Pretty great remake across the board. I felt certain areas outstayed their welcome a tad, but only a minor gripe. I felt that about the original too so I'm sure I'll feel that about this as well, particularly as said areas are probably even bigger. I'm in the prison now and even glancing at all the maps I'm getting stressed.
Still fucking love it, naturally. I'm up to about 6-7 syringes and 20 health drinks though! I mean 1 nurse can burn through about 3 health drinks in one go if I fuck up (and I do), so I'm not exactly complaining. It's making things a bit more comfortable though which - given how stressed out I've been getting - isn't a bad thing.

Talking of the nurses, I love it how they sometimes glitch out mid attack and their heads go all Jacob's Ladder.

Yeah it means you can get a free hit on the bastards.
Loving the animation overall, for everything. Nurses in particular though are cool the way they slope and glitch about the place.

Ok so I bought this for the PS5 Saturday. Put in a couple of sessions during the evenings, pitch black room and headphones on.
Playing in performance mode with a VRR tv. Its been mostly silky smooth throughout with the exception of the opening woodland walk which was a little juddery as the fps fell lower than 48 which is outside of the PS5's VRR window. So really happy with the performance but I know VRR is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Must be a judder fest on a non VRR tv.
Just left the apartments. The tone of the game, the audio design, it is really spot on. The apartments were really un-nerving. The audio track really made me uneasy at times. It was great to get back out in the fog again, almost felt a relief.
I've never played the original, so this is all new to me and I have no idea where its going to take me. I assume there are going to be worse sections though than the apartments which I look forward to with dread.
One of my favourite horror games ever is Dead Space, but I admit I never really found it creepy, scary or un-nerving. Silent Hill 2 has that beat in this regard easily.
Great game so far. Only complaint is the way the main character walks and runs which is a little stilted.

Fish fingers as well, no?
I actually had that the other night. Jumbo chunky fish fingers. Can't beat them.

Never been a fan of fish fingers with my chips and beans. It has to be sausages or a couple of fried eggs.

To be fair I had peas with them instead. It was an easy dinner night as it was just me and the boy. Don't like how wet the beans make everything. You need something like a sausage as a breakwater.

I really want to get this.
I can't remember which one it was, but the (nightmare) school and the hospital have stayed with me ever since.

That sounds like the first. Even as I'm playing and loving this one, I keep thinking about how good a remake of the first could be. I'm not sure it's better than SH2 but it's even more fucked up.

It was getting too much for me last night during what I consider my 'relaxation time' but currently is anything but because of this, took off headphones and it's not even remotely as bad. In fact, I look at the creature design and still think it's really fucking stupid. Legs on legs? Reminds me of that thing in Sid's bedroom in Toy Story 1. Sound design and lighting is doing 95% of the work. The sound work really is outstanding. Actually, the level design is really smart too. Very claustrophobic and labyrinthine. Dreamy, in a bad way. Hate it when you're shining your shitty flashlight down a corridor and can barely see more than 10 feet.
