You're talking like the original game is unworthy of being played by people now. You even said you'd never play it again I completely disagree on the dev. It matters. Of course their past work matters. What has changed about them making Silent Hill 2? Nothing, they didn't write it. It shows no growth whatsoever. The short sightedness is lavishing them with praise and ignoring their previous work because they made a game you like and ignoring the shit they've done in the past. You're entitled to put a computer game above any personal issues and I'm entitled not to. I have people close to me who have experienced childhood trauma and for them to put out a game that says they're beyond help and can only hurt people, nah. Please don't tell me how to feel about Bloober Team I'm posting about the current hotness in the given thread on a dedicated video game discussion board. Every time Borderlands gets mentioned people feel the need to say it's shit, you included. But I don't cry about it Ha ha they do wibble about. I'm hardly slagging the game off. I love the original, as I've constantly said. I play it regularly. The combat isn't exactly the high point though.
I'm not telling you how to feel about Bloober Team, you can feel how you want. I'm saying it doesn't mean it should necessarily cloud your judgement of this particular game, doubly so because, as you say, they didn't write it.
No one here is crying chief. We're having a discussion. A heated one perhaps, but a discussion nonetheless. One that I'm more than happy to move on from as there's not going to be a resolution. I would maybe suggest that you've made your point by now and it would possibly do you good to do the same, but that's entirely up to you. I don't feel as though I have anything further to add personally.
Again, I need to stress that if you're posting an opinon, don't get offended if there is a different opinion to your own.

I'm happy to discuss and disagree about things all day long. I enjoy talking about computer games, whether I'm playing them or not. What bothers me is, like with Elden Ring, when it turns into something bigger and instead of just talking about what I've said, it's that I shouldn't say it or I'm trolling or trying to start something. I always try to articulate what I'm saying and don't just wade in saying something is shit

I would imagine though that if you've expressed the fact that you haven't played it and have absolutely no intention of playing it then I can see how that would be just seen as sniping from the sidelines and might annoy. Regardless it's just a thing, we shouldn't fall out over this kind of stuff, life is honestly too short. |

For right or wrong you're just gonna get more eyes and ears across a wider audience if you do a full remake as opposed to just releasing an upscaled version. And sometimes it works out, RE2 is the best example of taking a classic game and modernising it. You could say you didn't need a remake of RE4, but it was also brilliant. Demons Souls in PS5 is the best version of that game, still one of the best looking on the platform. I'm not in that mode of condemning every remake to come out, it really does depend on a case by case basis. Because I laugh at the idea of TLOU or Horizon but would bite your hand off for Bluepoint to do Bloodborne. With SH2 I was not looking forward consider Bloober team was behind it. Glad to see it's turned out well

The other thing I'll say that, just purely from a good mental health perspective, is that if you (ie. anyone) feels the need to constantly post differing opinions against the consensus and feel the need to labour a point repeatedly, then your target audience may not be in that particular thread. Therefore it might not be worth it to keep on the attack. There will be others that share your opinion, but if they aren't there, then it's only going to lead to an increasingly one sided argument, and get more heated than perhaps it needs to be.
I am acutely aware I am also guilty of this, and it's as much a reminder for me as anyone else.
Also, welcome to the internet I suppose.

You didn't harsh my buzz. I'm not against a bit of back and forth (nudge nudge). It was just getting increasingly frustrating because it wasn't leading anywhere new. I just don't see the point in retreading the same ground. If you have a point to make, make it and then move on. It was an argument not destined to lead anywhere or evolve as your opinion isn't going to change.
And if that's the case, then labouring that same point is only going to get accusations of troll-like behaviour lobbied at you. Intentional or not.

The only thing I've not liked so far (but have been able to change in the settings) is the low health effects on screen. The constant red around the screen was stressing me out (and looked a bit whack). Unlike Wunty I've died and am wandering around with low health fairly often because I'm being a little reckless in the combat and not taking my time enough.

I won't be purchasing this any time soon (even though I want to) because my pile of shame has no end and my wallet is rather thin atm, but I will play the original to honour its well-received release and the approaching Halloween (which we Greeks do not celebrate). I will also keep an eye out for performance patches and a sale, just in case...
