protecting the woman in SH4 was not fun, also weapons breaking was annoying

Well I gave up on trying to get it to run on the Steam Dick. It runs great on my old work laptop, which is crazy.

I think that was semi confirmed previously, wasn't it?

I think so, but this appears to be the first official confirmation; either that, or IGN is having a slow news day!

Nah, other sites are posting it too also because it's a slow news day.

Was talk of it being a forever exclusive when it was first shown off just because Konami refused to say otherwise(even though the reveal trailer said 12 months as well).

The weapon breaking in 4 is annoying, as with every game that has weapon breaking.. Is there a solid weapon to get? I find myself running around like a headless chicken, with a steel pipe that is no doubt going to break.. and a handgun I don't want to use.

I remember using the rusty axe a lot in that game as it was quite powerful and didn't break.

I thought only some of the melee weapons broke, like the golf clubs. You get a pick axe at some point that should do you. Might be a hand axe before that

Yeah, weapon breaking is a mechanic that just does absolutely nothing for me in any of the games/genres I've encountered it in. Just a pure nuisance (or, at least, a minor irritant) that does zero to enhance my experience.
They had it in the recent Alone in the Dark (2024) game, too. I can only assume it was to add some semblance of flavour, as there was such an abundance of strategically-placed melee weapons to pick up that any risk attached to breaking was basically meaningless in terms of the combat itself, which seemed to defeat any perceived gameplay purpose.
Just so meh.

I'll have to have a look out for the axe. Problem is with me running around, I'm probably missing fairly obvious pick ups..

Review embargo 4th Oct apparently. Konami feeling confident?

Really going to struggle to avoid over-exposure to this over the next few days. Snippets of gameplay are popping up everywhere. Whilst I'm hardly likely to have story beats spoiled, I'd rather not see too much of the game before experiencing it myself.

I absolutely loved the original version, still one of my all time favourite games, but I'm so rubbish at horror games these days I'm torn. Get so tense playing them and not sure how much "enjoyment" I'll get

This might interest someone, or you might think its awful, but there's a nice instrumental metal cover album of some Silent Hill 2 tracks

I do think the voice acting is a hell of a lot better in the remake.

Very much so, I think people forget that VA in the late 90s early 2000s had a very specific kind of direction that can be quite awkward and stilted these days.

Which when combined with cutting edge scripting....
You see, this is why they should have remade the first one first.
