I’m liking the slight changes to the storyline I’m guessing they’re saving the “people are the bad guys actually” stuff for later, so makes sense they changed Tess’s death.
And the flashbacks to pre-outbreak are good. The zombie genre trope of “we don’t know where this came from!!!111” is tired out. Bella Ramsay is great but her Ellie does feel different to me. Game Ellie was more world hardened from the outset, but show Ellie seems more just regular cocky teen who isn’t quite prepared for the world. Intentionally, though.

Agreed on Ellie. I do really like her in this, though. I thought it was another great episode, with another fantastic cold open. One thing that is worth noting is how they are getting such strong performances from relatively minor characters, in episode 1, Nico Parker, in this episode Christine Hakim (I had no idea she was the first lady of Indonesian cinema prior to watching then looking her up). Kudos to the casting director.

I'm intrigued as to how they'll handle things like boss fights. The bloater is clearly just designed to be a boss baddy and not sure how that translates to a TV show. Don't think people would react well to Pedro running round in circles, lobbing frag grenades at it

Second episode was great, the cold open was excellent and I like the changes made too.

Pretty much every review says as much.

One thing I have noticed since this show started is the amount of recap articles that literally type out the plot of the episode. It's really bizarre, I guess this is the way of keeping writers in work then.

That’s been pretty standard for TV for a long while now, especially on the likes of “churn out as much as possible to flood to search results” places like Screenrant.

And same as with Youtube. Probably countless channels now doing episode recap videos, 10 things you missed in the episode videos, what to expect in the next episode videos, etc.

JambowayohYeah, spotted one on the old place for episode 2 first thing in the morning. Who on earth is that kind of article even meant to appeal to? I know people these days have shit attention spans thanks to phones, but even so you don't need the entire plot of an episode to be written out for you.

It does seem to be as Gremmi said SEO related just to be on the search algorithm. I can't imagine getting any satisfaction from as a writer though if that was my job.

I especially like the "ending of a film/TV show/game explained that you would know if you weren't asleep or checking your phone while watching/playing it" videos, always great when they pop up on YouTube before the subject matter actually comes out.

The best ones of those are when the explanations completely miss the point, like all the Annihilation ones.

Yeah that's fine but this is obviously a very big way of making content for a lot of gaming websites through so little actual work. Have a hot take and your engagement gets even bigger.

Cool episode. Going through the museum section with no control over what anyone is doing adds a whole new level of shit your pants anxiety.

They have totally nailed it. It feels like the game, but with the benefit of exceptional performances and enough new stuff that fits perfectly. It's the dynamic between the three main characters in the first 2 episodes that stands out to me, and has left the show in my head between episodes.

Wasn't over keen on the horde of infected thing, I don't recall anything like that in the game. Otherwise a good episode.

They changed some things from the game. It doesn't always have to be 1:1.
