My first encounters with stealth games were Tenchu and Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation. Both games allowed you to bolt away and hide before re-approaching with stealth.
TLOU2 was superb, but it didn't need to be as long as it was. I don't get enough time in front of the big TV these days to play an AAA title like that these days, sadly!

The annoying thing is I can't wait for all of them to come out at once, because that will take years. So I've had to renew my bloody now tv sub, which is 10 quid a month to watch this ffs!

It's only a 9 episode season, so done by the middle of March. I'll probably hold off on it until then as the missus is interested in watching it too and hates weekly waits for episodes (I've avoided mentioning it's based on a game!) |

I don't really see what is so wrong with the article. They watched the first episode and found it had uncomfortable parallels to the pandemic. They aren't saying it shouldn't have been made or telling others to not watch, just "wow, that made me feel more anxious than I was expecting". The digs at the US government weren't particular necessary and felt a bit baity (even if I agree with them), but besides that it just seemed to be someone saying how they felt during the show. I would rather see that kind of reaction piece than the sort most websites do, which is to just regurgitate the plot. |

Don’t quite get why that article is “garbage”. She just found it a bit of hard watch and wrote about why. There’s no OMG THIS SHUD BE BAND outrage.
The pandemic obviously hit some people harder than others. It’s amazing how easily we can move on from things tbh, as thinking back to those early days it was a proper holy shit what is happening time. Just takes some a bit longer to recover from that than others.

It's conflating a lot of things that the game and show that have got nothing to do with our ongoing pandemic reality.
Edit: and thinking about perhaps "utter garbage" was overdoing it but it struck me as being the usual Kotaku clickbaitv when I first read it.

Although what happened in the covid pandemic and what happens on this are so drastically different that I'm not sure how it can impact your enjoyment of it in the slightest.

I mean, I've not actually watched it so don't really know, but I would be surprised if a fictional outbreak of an illness made in the last year or 2 doesn't draw some inspiration from recent imagery from the COVID pandemic. I expect most post-apocalyptic/humanity threatening stories will be taking inspiration from it for a long time.

I’m a couple of episodes ahead of everyone - no spoilers but even if you have no interest in mushroom zombies or really don’t think you need to see an adaptation of the game, you do really need to see episode 3.
It’s a fairly self-contained episode so you you can watch it in isolation if you want. It might be just my post-baby brain being over emotional but I haven’t watched anything as moving in quite some time.
