It could have been worse they could have put in Christie first.

Could I instead pay to not have Eddie included at all?

I managed to sneak an hour over lunch, spent most of it sorting Pauls hair out and setting music but had half an hour in training mode which seems really good. You dive in and out of combo trials and whatnot. Doesn't look like there is a Dojo/Club system so add me as a friend if you're playing and have cross play on. I'll post my code up later if the capture ever makes it over to the phone app.

I'm watching someone stream the final battle in the story mode and it's given me a stonking headache.

Oh no, those scores have me itching to pick it up. I really enjoyed the 2 or 3 weeks I had with Street Fighter 6 last year (I stopped with it not through any fault of the game, just got distracted with other games). I did play a little of 7 about a year or so ago and enjoyed it enough, although I was truly terrible at it, even more so than I was with SF6.
Feel like it is probably best to grab a game like this early on if you have any intention to play online. Could see myself picking this up before the weekend is out, particularly if I see lots here having fun.

If I get this I'm torn on what to play it on primarily down to controller, so it's the X or PS5. I'm not really bothered by stick because Tekken has always felt like a gamepad fighter.

I think most FGs are gravitating towards either pad or hitbox these days tbqh. Virtually none of the top SF6 players use arcade stick.

Ive migrated pretty much fully to pad. I always played tekken on pad anyway but dualsense is actually good enough to play 2D games on.

It's quite an interesting development really, I guess it kinda moved around the tail end Ultra SF4 when people like NuckleDu were doing god's work with a PS4 pad.

For me, the shift was mainly facilitated by QoL improvements and control changes. Ive always been fine playing MK, Injustice and Tekken on a pad but mash inputs and three button supers were pretty much a no go so I had to play SF on stick, especially as a Blanka player. But with the exception of Blankas hop (which Ive bound to R3) three button moves and mash are entirely gone from SF6 so pad ahoy.

Damn I’m so weak. £55 from TGC.
I think my renewed interest in fighters has been since I got the hori pad for the ps5. I use the dpad part not the stick but I find it much more responsive than the DualSense dpad.

Wasn’t there a kid that placed at Evo playing Street Fighter 4 using the 360 analog stick?

Its the pele with a golfball thing, right? The best controller is the one you have. This all day. It's interesting how it really riled up a lot of the old guard from SF3 who moved onto SF4 and everyone was using pads and being ultra competitive.

Yeah something like Netherrealm games are essentially designed for pad and with how dial up combos work I never felt the need for anything more than a pad.

I picked up a Qanba Drone arcade stick a while ago, that I some how got for about £30, so I go for that with fighting games. I don't think it improves my play or anything, although it might be a bit more comfortable than the d-pad for extended play. It just feels a bit more satisfying to play on it.

I was surprised to see to the Series S version get shafted in the visual stakes so hard.

Didn’t even get round to starting the main story last night lol Fannying about with customisation in the menus led me to firing up the Arcade Mode, which was charming enough that I ended up just playing that.
Finding blocking brutal though, and the chip damage when Heat is active seems to really fuck me up.
Game looks absolutely gorgeous btw

Yeah, I just spent an hour or so last night twatting about with stuff and trying a few characters in practice mode. Jun seems really fun. They added laser punches to her old tekken 2 moves so old people can use her.
I’ve also stuck with the tekken 2 soundtrack. It’s the most chill one with the least blaring euro techno and even though missing The Head Shaker is a war crime there are still some bops in there.

See the Character Endings, is it potentially better (lore/story wise) to finish the Main Story mode first before jumping into them? I usually end up doing all of those kind of things, try out all the characters etc.
Re: Jukebox, had the Tekken 5 one on for most of my time last night. Still a banger. Playlist functionality looks cool as well here.

I think the character endings are mainly just random fun bits that have no bearing on the “main story”. At least, the ones I’ve seen seem to be that.

Playing around with some characters beyond just Hwoarang and taken immediately to Shaheen, seems really decent beginner character. Reina is cool too. Story mode is decent. Really enjoying just learning right now.

I haven’t played a Tekken seriously since Tekken 3 and I’ve absolutely no idea what’s going on. Even that Brian Cox video hasn’t helped.

Didn't take me long to go ahead and grab a copy. Spent much of the afternoon with the arcade mode, which was good fun. Played initially as Nina and then went over to Victor. They actually do a really good job of introducing things through this mode, although they don't give much indication that this is the place to go first (I had to look up online where to begin). I think it works better as an introduction to playing the multiplayer game than SF6's story mode.
Have found I occasionally get into a fight where I just get completely beaten down by the AI. They sometimes can be relentless. Particularly found I had difficulty against Claudio for some reason.

The soundtrack is on music services now, and while most of them are misses "Silently Boisterous" (which I think is Reina's theme?) is a tune.

Also "Storm Rising" (which is from the original reveal trailer) is surprisingly crunchy.

The one from the green temple thing is decent but, yeah, it’s all a bit much in general.
It’s been a bad year for it in general. Strives soundtrack is like nails down a blackboard and SF6s is just woeful.

I really don’t like it. I’m usually fairly ambivalent to a poor soundtrack but there are a few on there I genuinely hate, Lukes in particular.
Jamie and AKI are probably the only good ones on there the rest range from tolerable to insufferable.
