Might as well get your version of Mark Hughes out of the way.

How much and for how long will they actually have to pump in to get top 4? I have no idea, but I know nothing is guaranteed, city haven't won the Champions League yet despite all their efforts.

Thank fuck Ashley is gone. An odious man who sucked the life and soul out of the club. Over the last 10 years I've drifted away as so did any hope of watching decent football. Starting every cup run expecting to go out in the first round, playing bottom tier teams at home and thinking a draw would be optimistic, and watching frankly dull and uninspiring football meant over the last couple of seasons I could barely even bring myself to watch our "highlights" let alone a full match.
Been back in London for a few years but had a stint living back in Northumberland recently so got to St James' occasionally. Probably didn't help going to the two 0-3 Sunderland games, but the atmosphere was frequently toxic (as apposed to Harpers testimonial which was brilliant).
Obviously with the new owners things are going to change massively. We are going to win things (at least some home games). But only because of the money. I get you need huge pockets to even be in with a shout these days, but I'd have been happy with more modest owners and just seeing entertaining football with an optimistic outlook.
Not going to get to moralistic over the new owners, they already have their fingers in lots of UK assets and we suck up to them all the time (Queeny giving them the red carpet only a couple of years back). We probably all access the forum on devices made with Chinese slave labour and turn other blind eyes, but yeah, it's not ideal and two wrongs don't make a right.
It's more the state of modern football. Insane wages, insanely wealthy owners, a game that seems to be more focused on TV than a community.

Don't think anyone is expecting to be on the top 4 any time soon. It'll be nice not being run like a branch of Poundstretchers though.

At least when you lose now you can have some perspective that at least you aren't getting stoned to death like some Saudi women.

Spare me the moralising. Football is broken and not by us. Finally we can dream again about football. The other shit we can't control.

So forget the human rights abuse because you can enjoy football again, is that your point here?

It doesn’t really feel like I’ve got my club back, whatever that might mean

Frog I hear you, but we didn't bring football to this. Ashely has gone, we are owned by some shady people. As a 46 yo Geordie I just care about the football. Also stick your sanctimonious shit up your arse.

Haha it's amazing how quick you are to defend your new owners saying it's ok as it's already fucked.
I love that it's also sanctimonious to have an issue with human rights abusers.
I will turn a blind eye to it, just buy me Mbappe.

Nah they're dreadful people. I'm sure all the Man U fans who seem to have the biggest problem with this would be disowning their club at the moment.

Funnily enough there was a thread on redcafe about it when they were linked with us, the overwhelming majority were deeply against it.

To be fair a lot of the fans live in the Middle East so they'll have first hand knowledge of it.

I tried to fuck it off after the Super League fiasco and got dragged back. It's not as simple as saying "I'll stop supporting my team if X takes over".
I find the media to be total chicken shits in having not tried to explore or highlight it more in all the years these fuckers have been coming in and taking over clubs though. Maybe something could have changed if we'd cut off the stranglehold before it started.

My little 6 year old boy burst through the door from school tonight shouting "has the takeover went through dad?!" and in the end isn't that what its all about?
"Yes is has son" I said to him and his face lit up. "Now let us go and stone a homosexual to death to celebrate"

I can see Martinez being Newcastle manager. Same, we’ll not be in the market for an elite club manager yet but he’s probably the perfect level of big reputation but middling club experience
