It not unlike Brexit really. Some can see what's coming an absolute mile off. Some will remain entrenched in their beliefs because of a combination of PTSD from Mourinho and Ole being a club legend.
But it doesn't stop one simple fact; this is Ole's football and it, with one hundred percent certainty, isn't ever going to get any better than the odd nice win and a whole bunch of toothless, turgid football leaving us miles behind anyone that matters. No matter what side we fall on currently, we're all going to have to come to terms with what we are at one point or another.

Top day for these lads. Giving it the big one online is more fun than the football anyway Must be great to be such a real fan like you I kind of prefer the term supporter rather than fan, but cheers, it’s super. youtu.be/HgWvOYMzQHs2m 50s I’m off to the beach, have a good one.

I honestly don't remember you Man Utd lads so readily tearing lumps out of each other back on the EG forums. It'sa bit bizarre alright given I think we've got only mildly differing thoughts about the team and agree on lots of the bad points. Like we've gotten away with a few already this season and today was another worrying performance.

There's a world of discussion to be had between "I agree with you" and backhandedly questioning how much of a fan someone is because they have the temerity to point out how shite we've been playing.
If you can't take it back, don't give it out in the first place.

Jesus. I am out of this thread. We were shit but this thread is too full of people who seem to take delight in that fact because it somehow validates their opinion Nah, no point actually talking about the match. Just bash the manager. Tactics obviously wrong. I mean we had more percentage of pos against Villa than Chelsea had, and more than double the shots they had too. But our tactics are awful, our manager is awful, and Chelsea have a good manager. We missed chances, including a pen. I don't think we automatically need to bash the manager for that. Maybe we could have had Sancho on instead of Fred. Aside from that, not sure what else people want... The players let him down. Not the other way round.

They play like that against City, we play like that against Villa. We had 28 shots....

We could have scored at least 4 today. And conceded 4 mind.

I think the majority of United fans are of the opinion, Ole has to win something this season. Performances need to improve. Part of the reason I was so devastated about us not winning Europa was that I wanted him to have 1 major trophy at least, I think the good work he's done would have been well marked with one but I primarily just feared he wouldn't make it the distance to get another. I hope he does and I'm hoping the team improve. We've had slow starts many seasons and I'm still supporting the team and Ole but he's under pressure, no doubt. The team needs to go on a bit of a run with some convincing performances soon or the questions will come. Massive game on Wednesday.

If you honestly think we've been playing good football I don't really have a response that will satisfy you. If you're enjoying what we're doing on the pitch then I'm happy for you.

I don't think that anyone has said that, or if they have, I missed it. You sound like you might want to stop watching before you have an ulcer, though.

He’s not going to win the league. There are 3 teams clearly better than United
I don’t want to see him sacked but I do think this will be his last season in charge as he won’t win anything again

Could and should have scored at least 4 and why Ronaldo didn't take the pen is just ludicrous.

Like I said the other day, supporting the club doesn't have to be a binary thing. I'm happy with many of the things that are going on in and around the club but I find the one that matters we are sorely underperforming in. Unless Ole secretly uses Fontgeek and I'm hurting his feelings enough to have an impact on our performances I really don't see what difference pointing out how crap were playing and how little progress we've made on the pitch makes to anything. I'd never go to a game and boo. I'd never make a sign or hire a plane to fly over the stadium in aid of creating a toxic atmosphere in real life. But I will come onto a little corner of the Internet and vent at what my eyes are seeing. After seven years, we should have a bit of a thicker skin to these things really.

Haha, luckily for the most part, the Arsenal chat was kept for n the group. Definitely got a bit heated at times, but that's not always a bad thing.

I’ve calmed down a bit now part of me wants the club to stick with a manager long term, part of me is worried ole may not be the right one to stick with to be honest!

That is the gamble. Both Arsenal and Man Utd are desperate to replicate the Fergie and Wenger longevity and not continually chop and change. Have similar doubts that Arteta is the right man, but do appreciate what the club is trying to do now.

I guess, when supporters don't know which team is going to turn up on match day, there are going to be a spread of opinions on what and how to fix it.
God knows, I spent best part of 25 years doing that as a Liverpool fan.
So long as the debate stays civilised then feel free to vent!
The thread is definitely a bit Man U centric, perhaps result of ages - I may be wrong but many of you seem to be aligned with peak Man U success when at an impressionable age.
Any which way, I still expect this summer's spending will bring you improvements over the season and unless we do some business in January you'll finish above us.

We've rebuilt well under Ole, but there's also a very clear ceiling there as well. Again I must stress I wouldn't want to see him sacked tomorrow and realistically, it probably wouldn't do us any good anyway. But eventually sentiment is going to have to make way for reality because it quite simply isn't going to get better.
It already feels like we're wasting another season and we aren't even out of September. It's frustrating when you look at the players we have.

I think you guys need a separate Man Utd thread. This conversation just keeps going round in circles.

Was trying to get in Bruno's head, and massively worked. Commentators mentioned him doing the same to Mina in Copa America.

Tbf, it was fully right that Bruno take the penalty. So uncharacteristic for him to miss. Strange game, really not much in it, you couldn't have had many complaints with any of the three possible outcomes. It was Villa's day.
The issue there is that this was at OT, it really shouldn't be a question of hoping to just about edge it against villa at home. Good a side as they are.
