Wages a big problem there. Before the weekend, I was going to suggest Madueke but that ship has sailed! Who else do they need shot of?

How has Nunez got away with a 5 match international ban for brawling and throwing a chair at fans. Cantona got 9 months for far less. Game’s gone

In the absence of one of our long term targets being available a loan for Sterling is our best bet. Though I'd rather take the risk of no incoming winger than get lumbered with a permanent deal for him.
The ultimate goal remains being the 'best' when Pep leaves City (hopefully next season) and to that end I still think it's more important to get the right player next summer, even if it means harming our chances this season. I think/hope the club understands this. Williams, Isak, Musiala, Sesko are all more gettable next summer.
We have the 10 shirt (and if Eddie goes Henry's 14) available and cash in the bank, don't waste it on getting stuck with Sterling beyond one season.

I don't think wages are that big an issue if Chelsea are presented with a straight choice to be pragmatic and subsidise a loan or him staying and they have to take the full hit. The numerous Lukaku loan deals show they will ultimately do this if there isn't another option. From Arsenal's side the risk is that someone else comes in for Sterling who is prepared to pay the full wage or a bigger percentage or even sign him permanently. We aren't as desperate for an extra player as Chelsea should be to get rid. They still have many more players than they can register. I'd like to think from a football side we'd be Sterling's best option (City aren't knocking and I doubt he wants to go abroad), but if we get outbid so be it. We can afford to make Sterling one of the highest earners for one year based on his status, so long as it doesn't break the wage structure.

Have we not got some wonderkid in our youth system?

muddyfunster agree re a loan but the suggestion was £25m perm transfer. Which we should run away from for sure. zisssou no youth wingers/forwards that I'm aware of. Nwanieri (AM) and Lewis-Skelly (LB) closest i think.

The next striker cab at the rank (Chido Obi) went to Man Utd because of the lack or visible route to the first team or because they more than doubled our wage offer, depending on your level of cynicism.
Btw I obviously don't actually have a grudge against Chido. He's a 16 year old who may never make it being offered set for life money, he'd have been a fool not to take it. We also didn't really develop him as he came to us late so didn't really 'owe' us anything by any means.

I think MLS is actually more of a DM so although he can be our 6th choice LB (crazy how much depth we have there) I think he's more likely to be used as 4th choice six, and maybe emergency cover for the left eight role.

It might be a lanague barrier or maybe misquotes, but the way Marcesca talks about players not in his plans is very close to the margins of employee harassment. It's very strange. I think he speaks the language well enough to understand the nuances, and would be aware how cold he is coming across. The players in question haven't done anything wrong, and are just being discarded (left to waste months of their career if they're unable to move). It's quite uncomfortable to read/hear.

There was a rumour that the PFA are keeping a pretty close watch on what is happening at Chelsea. Although quite how they exert pressure I'm not sure. Can't see players at other clubs being up for striking in solidarity.

You mean you can't see them outside Premier League HQ with their placards and hi vis jackets?

Not saying I don't believe it, just that I seem to remember the reporting at the time was that this that this was alleged by the Uruguayan's rather than established fact.

Matt O'Riley, Brightons latest £25m signing, got crunched late by a smirking Crawley player 6 mins in to his debut and now needs surgery so is out for months...

Well on the video they were definitely concerned for people in the stadium - they didn't just wade in unprovoked.

I don't know what's going on..
"Arsenal submit €20m package bid for Joan García as new GK to replace Ramsdale. Agents Juanma López and Andy Bara bring the proposal to Espanyol worth €20m add-ons included. Espanyol ask for €30m clause. Joan García agreed terms with #AFC and wants Arsenal."

Arteta loves Goalkeepers.
I know very little about the guy, but I imagine he's intended to be a similar profile to Raya and won't play much. To that end, spending that much seems ridiculous. However I guess if he's on significantly lower wages than Ramsdale we've still made a squad efficiency.
Think he played for Espanyol last night as their first choice, so I'm not exactly surprised that they want every penny.

Seems a legit way of defending them from danger.

Seems a legit way of defending them from danger. Cantona was provoked. I don't think any players are total sociopaths, there's always provocation. It's only mitigation if their families were actually in danger. Verbal abuse isn't pleasant but it doesn't give you a license to go and physically assault someone, there has to be a legitimate threat for it to be self-defence or defence of family. As Frog said, given the limited video clips appeared to show Nunez's family on the pitch it seemed far more about retribution than defence.

Don't see a massive issue tbh. We need a proper No2. Ramsdale's price was because he barely played last year. This chap is 1st choice in La Liga

Damn Shame, was looking forward to seeing what he would do, he was a cut above at Celtic. Was a horrific tackle, guy never even got booked, what a joke.
