Don’t you know how many Instagram followers we have? In all seriousness, United not in the same stratosphere status wise as AC Milan or Bayern is hilarious. Like if you had said best teams over the last decade or something sure. But by most measurements of status I could think of, crowd sizes, global interest, ability to pay the highest wages etc, they’re most definitely ‘in the same stratosphere. Just lovely that from Palmer. How deft a touch does that need on the bounce. Beautiful. In terms of honourw and titles MU aren't anywhere near AC Milan and Bayern. It's not even close.

I really don’t think there’s much point going into another page with this discussion. By a lot of metrics United, despite being shite on the pitch, still retain their ‘status’ as one of the biggest clubs. You disagree, based on, performance on the pitch, that’s fine. But yeah, some great football on this morning that’s far better to chat about. Annoyingly good ball from Jota.

It’s a totally arbitrary measure that can’t really be quantified, but unless the main criterion is “trophy count in the last two decades” then I don’t think there’s really any metric in which Man Utd aren’t the biggest club in the country, and by a considerable margin.

Newcastle have absolutely rode their luck so far this season. Southampton were bossing the game even before the sending off last week and we’ve totally robbed Bournemouth this afternoon. Melodramatic comment given the season is only two games in and Southampton couldn't convert their chances (which is on them, not luck).

Pedantic perhaps but if something can't be quantified then it can't be measured and any claim without a reliable measure is meaningless.

And Maybe Chelsea. I'll stop here since I realize I'm being a bit of a troll Anyway, can we all agree that Newcastle are the dirtiest team in the league?

Different circumstances, and I'm not sure how AC Milan winning a bunch of titles in the 60s or whenever means they're now a bigger club than Man Utd.

I wasn’t sure if they were getting confused with Juventus.

We've been mismanaged to the Nth degree over the last two decades and it's still taken an oil nation some of the most brazen and high degree cheating ever seen in professional sports to even appear similar on the balance sheet to us. We're not a big club on the pitch but we're still way ahead in other areas.

Anyway, can we all agree that Newcastle are the dirtiest team in the league? I'm bored of a Sunday so had a quick look, and no, they're not, by any statistical metric.

Because they get away with *a lot* that doesn't necessarily show up in the stats. Like Bruno G. elbowing Jorginho in the back of the head or Joelinton doing a very good WWF wrestler impression (yes, I'm old).

Welcome to the Premier League where arriving a bit late and catching someone in a genuine attempt to play the ball is a straight red but intentionally elbowing someone in the head, choking them on the ground or a clothesline across the neck or actual sexual harassment/assault is no more than a yellow card. If you react, you get booked yourself.

Ironically Joelinton's "tackle" on the keeper would see you off for ten minutes in a rugby match. Contact with the head is not tolerated.

Can they increase Joelinton’s yellow to a red upon review?
My only thought is that the ref hasn’t seen it clearly and thought he’s pulled him back by the shirt. But then why don’t the VAR guys pull him back and say “are you sure you saw it right” because there’s no way any official gets a solid eye on that and lets Joelinton stay on the pitch.

But there's no way in hell MU are in the same stratosphere (status wise) as Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Bayern and Liverpool. I'm no fan of United but this is one of the most ridiculous things I've read in this thread.

Remember them giving it to someone a few years back when they missed out by 1 goal.

Ugarte should be finalising his transfer today, can't say I know too much about him other than he is a tenacious defensive midfielder which should hopefully bring a bit more balance to the midfield. Will hopefully mean Mainoo and Casemiro don't get run into the ground as well.
