Big result. I reckon you’ll do it this year. Part of me hopes you do as I’m so sick of city.

Arteta's record in these kind of revenge matches (fixtures which did not go to plan last time) is excellent but I was not confident at any stage.
Villa were good and we were lucky they missed good chances. Super impressed with Rogers and Onana seemed pretty good too.
We also missed good chances but ultimately Raya and Trossard made the difference.
Ben White's unnecessarily nailing McGinn with the ball for doing the same to Saliba was a highlight.

This season was compromised the second they started talking to Tuchel and then shit themselves after the swell of support following the FA Cup. Ten Hag basically has to be perfect and we're already losing games a week in. Christ on a bike, we've lost one game that was incredibly tight. We shouldn't have lost the game I know but it was a far cry from last season performance wise. A point would have been an ok result there but we feel asleep at two key moments. The first half Brighton couldn't get near the ball. Let's not get all doom mongering just yet eh?

Although everything you say is spot on, it’s also true that getting a draw away at Brighton would now be considered a good result. We have fallen so far that I think most people have forgot we are still the biggest club in England and the 2nd biggest club in the world. If we carry on like this for the next ten years we won’t be and playing the first two games of the season and getting a last minute winner against Fulham and losing to Brighton isn’t quite the uplift we need…. Yes we have started better than the last two seasons, but that was an incredibly low bar and if don’t win the next two we will already be playing a massive catch up to city, Liverpool and Arsenal. Optimism is great, but we’ve seen where that gets us in the past when mediocrity is staring us in the face to many times already… I’ll give him ten games, but if we are not in the top four after ten games he needs to go.

I'm sorry that I don't feel more hard done by that plucky underdog Manchester United didn't get the rub of the green against a team that have now won what? 5 of the last 6 times against us? With a manager change in between.
Eventually you have to start picking up points. Undermining the manager the way they've done is probably only going to lead in one direction, but that matter is aside from the game today.

My expectations this season are to be playing decently even when we lose. So far it has been that way, only time will tell how consistent this is. It is a gut punch to lose no doubt Yeah I only seen the 1st half, second on radio in the car. But we looked like we played well, and it was a decent watch compared to last season. The pressing was actually really good, forcing them long and dispossessing them. Just rusty and sloppy passing sometimes when we had great chances to attack and continuing dubious defence. Didn't deserve to lose, though a draw would have definitely been fair.

We missed Mount in the second half as he was doing most of the pressing. I'm not sure where he fits in when everyone is fit but the team functioned better with him on the pitch today.

Of the front players, pressing and in possession, Rashford seemed to not be doing a lot compared to the rest.
Wouldn't mind seeing Mount play there for pressing, or Garnacho get a start.
When Amad was running at their full back he was brilliant, but didn't get enough chances to, and some of his other play (the 3v2) was a bit sloppy.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Rashford and Garnacho next week for all out counter attack against Pool.

Honestly this is the biggest problem with us so far this season. We've had miles more control with Mount on the pitch and playing a false 9. I'm concerned with it as we've failed to control the game when we've changed things as you'd think playing a false 9 is not sustainable so will we have to sacrifice control when we do invariably stop doing it? Again it's 2 games into the season, I might wait and see.

His goal was lovely but he has a long long way to go still imo. He does seem to be flavor of the month for a lot of United fans and while I think he's got lots of talent, he has a hell of a lot still to do imo Edit; pressing though he's is very good at and I think that's a huge help for what I think eth is trying to do

I don’t think Clem is hugely wrong there although position 2 would be up for debate. There’s a huge international fan base for Manchester United and it’s a giant as a commercial enterprise and brand. On those sorts of metrics definitely in the top ten and I’d say almost certainly top 5.

By commercial revenue they are certainly up there. It's difficult these days because you have the artificial revenue streams of City and PSG to contend with so I don't know if they are technically second anymore. If we ignore that it's probably between them and Real Madrid still.
Certainly fair to worry about status decline due to results. There's probably been a generation of 'glory hunting' fans now that could've supported Man Utd and instead support City / Madrid / PSG / Bayern.

I think as a brand they’re probably still up there just behind Madrid, Barca etc but you wonder how long that’ll be sustainable for if they’re not permanent fixtures in the Champions League and the oilballers are pushing them

Madueke posting 'Everything about this place is shit' before deleting his Instagram. For context, it was about Wolverhampton, not Chelsea.

But yeah, he needs to kick on with goals and assists this season. Really should have played Bruno in when we had a 3v2 attack. Instead played an awful pass to Rashford. Did press very well, scored and played the key pass for what should have led to a Bruno assist. So if he was really poor, doesn't say much about the rest of the team lol.

That has put me off Madueke a bit. Aside from just being unpleasant and childish, why give Wolves any more incentive before the game? The atmosphere will be more hostile now and it doesn't help Chelsa. It's fairly pathetic and he's 22 now, so not exactly a kid anymore. Does suggest that he's fundamentally not serious about his profession.
