De Ligt and Mazraoui have been literally seen in United training kits taking part in sessions but no formal announcement. We're so weird when it comes to this stuff but good to get them over the line.
Not sad to see Wan Bissaka go. He's a good lad but he's got that modern Kyle Walker thing of his best attribute only being used so often because he's constantly caught out of position. You'd hope we're sorted in defence now, at least until 4 more players get injured before September.

Yeah, can't have any complaints with our transfer window so far they have done well. Be nice to get Ugarte over the line if we can as well and it would have been an excellent window.

8pm today I'm betting.
I'd also bet the marketing team are holding stuff up.

Agreed Man Utd have had a good window (as have West Ham if you ask me).
Leicester, Liverpool (not that they need much to be fair), and especially Newcastle... not so much.

I don't want to use Twitter...other options? Me too. Insane place to put updates if they want balanced debate and broader acceptance. I suspect it will just concentrate more bitter argument. Given they're trying to improve the speed of information sharing, where else would you suggest that has anything like the immediacy, reach and sharing capability of Twitter?

Only thing I think I would want as a Utd fan is an experienced DM. Can't rely on Mainoo to fully lead the charge and it's 50/50 whether Casemiro has a good season. McTominay shouldn't be first choice either.

Nope, but then trying to act immediately is surely a nightmare waiting to happen - they will end up announcing that they have made game changing mistakes whilst said games are still in play... Adding more complexity and urgency to get comments out is probably not going to help and creates a totally distracting sideshow IMO.

Shaw injured again, feel sorry for the poor fucker.
Still he has a better life than me and barely has to work for it so my sympathy has limits ๐

Legit question because I don't know the answer. But has Shaw been as injured as long as Martial

Probably longer but he hasn't been shit most of the times he has played so he gets less stick. He also had that horror break which is to blame for a lot of his troubles since.

2015, the PSV tackle that should have ended his career.

Gary Neville on this day in 2021: "I donโt know the plan at Arsenal. The recruitment has been really poor. I donโt get the strategy, I donโt get the direction of how theyโre taking the team"

I donโt get the strategy, I donโt get the direction of how theyโre taking the team" Gary Neville, last year: "Arsenal are going to win the league". No need to be butt hurt about a TV personality saying something incorrect 3 years ago. Also if I remember it was shit before that point. Additionally, he just says stuff now to make sure he's not seen as Man Utd biased and secondly to stir up discussion. He's a professional shit stirrer basically.

Newcastle's vid was pretty good too.
I'm just not a fan of this 90s revival because it's reminding me of a) some horrific gear I wore, and b) my age...

Even if it was the guy at the end of the video whose posters I had on plastered all over my wall any time Match or Shoot cared to include one.

Pochettino is taking the US head coach role, bit of a coup for them.

Thatโs kind of a surprise. Heโs having a bit of a weird career really. Its like heโs been in a holding pattern for awhile waiting for the job he really wants and taking things like this and Chelsea just to remind people heโs still working.
But the more of these he takes presumably the further away a United or Madrid or Bayern seems to become.

Also with regard to the premier league season...I'm feeling strangely optimistic and also certain that only a few injuries and we're fucked again.
I don't like football.

Also with regard to the premier league season...I'm feeling strangely optimistic and also certain that only a few injuries and we're fucked again. I don't like football. Cautious optimism should absolutely be the default at this time of year. We all want to believe in the bull case otherwise what's the point? except we've all been burnt before, so we feel obliged to verbalise the bear case. The conflict in my head runs as follows: BULL: The team has improved their points tally for four straight years and continually inched closer to City. Calafiori looks great, Timber is the absolute epitome of 'like a new signing' and our young squad will be more mature. A similar improvement should see us get over 90pts. Given the charges against City there's a non-zero chance that we could win our third straight title this season cementing a glorious era of domination. The new government will follow through on promises of an independent regular reversing the hyper inflation that threatens the sport. BEAR: No PL team had improved their points tally for four straight years before, so that was already unusual and five in a row is statistically very unlikely. City will sign Eze and Bruno in the last week of the window and raise the bar further rendering anything we do moot anyway. City's lawyers will win out ensuring that only nation states will be have the resources to win titles so we may as well give up. Yes I see what you mean, I also don't like football.

I pray Timber stays injury free. He's already coming back from a niggle. I'm not convinced he'll be playing 30+ games this season.

Brighton aren't messing around. Are they just spending that Caicedo money, or is there some accounting reason for their spending spree?
