I've realised how to contextualise this for me, by thinking of the closest person to me that has died, and it was probably my best friend about 15 years ago. This person was obviously way more meaningful to me than the Queen. So the ridiculousness of the past week is just insane. I'm done and will be glad it is over tomorrow.

And sadly, MBS has had to RSVP in the negative: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62948145On the plus side, the Chinese Vice-President is able to attend. Fuck the Uyghurs!

So as soon as the funeral is done with is everything just going to go back to normal or is this shit going to get rammed down our throats for the rest of the year. People still bang on about Diana amongst all the new documentaries they do, so this will be going on for ages. People don't, the mail and the Telegraph do.

Oh shit, does anyone remember when Stewart found the thread about him on EG and he combed through it, picking out the choicest burns directed at him, which he posted on his own site? Am I making this up or did it happen?

I wasn't making it up. www.stewartlee.co.uk/online-critiques/“Im sorry stewart lee fans but his material is lazy, repitive, dirivative and aimed squarely at the sychophants.” dufftownallan, eurogamer.com “I can’t stand his smuggy smug bastard smugface.” PES Fanboy, eurogamer.com “A heckler could destroy his entire act simply by shouting “we get the fucking picture” from the back of the room in the first 5 minutes.” Dirtbox, eurogamer.com Dunno why he picked me out, I quite like his comedy. Anyway, back to the previously scheduled mourning.

Haha, love that. One of the very few standups that can hold my attention for longer than fifteen minutes.
Can see why people dislike him though.

I might actually watch it on TV as it’ll be difficult not to if the telly’s on. Ready for this to be over to be honest. The Balmoral dash seems like months ago

The TV’s going to be on for the ceremony today, Mrs hedben wants to watch it. I found the coverage leading up to the lying in state terminally dull, so I’ll either be entertaining kid #3, or finally trying to finish Mario and Rabbids on the Switch.

I’ve got work to catch up on so chances are I’ll be in the study and my wife will be dealing with our son demanding to binge watch Numberblocks on CBeebies (again)

Despite also finding the coverage over the last week ridiculous, my wife (and kids) also want to watch it. I was all for fucking off out and enjoying the peace and quiet. She did make a good point about the kids watching it though - all the schools will be and she didn't want them to be left out. I suspect the eldest will be on his switch though.

I didn't realise there was a national Shut Up for the Queen last night until I went back to normal telly during it.
I purposefully sang Born in the USA out loud.
Fed up with this shit now. I've got housework to get on with and I shall be doing that instead.

It's a historic moment, so I was planning on watching it on TV. That said, I've just looked at the schedule, and it goes on for the majority of the day, so I'm not watching all of it.

When you can no longer bear the BBC commentary telling you every bloody obvious detail coupled with pointless filler they also do a non-commentary feed which is rather nice and perfect for background in these difficult days. You'll just hear the gentle doffing of caps and horses trying to make a leap for freedom.

Queen procession goes past me on the Great West road at some point, I'll amble out to see a car whizz past at 40mph. Unless I forget which is highly likely.
Take that 18 hour queuers! Royalty comes to me.

Our anti-monarchist friends have invited us round theirs to watch the funeral as "it's a once in a lifetime event". It's even broken them.

All of you thinking about not watching the funeral; you do realise there'll be a test on it tomorrow? Fail and it's straight to Rwanda with you.

Mrs. M. would like the ten year old to watch it, as she's off school (obviously) and it is a historical moment.
Mrs. M. is at work until 15:00 or so, and is therefore leaving it to me to administer proceedings.
I work from home, in the main living area of the house, and intend to work today, so I might try to get the little 'un to watch it in her room.
Honestly, it just sounds like the sort of thing I don't want to subject a young child to, particularly on her own. Hmmm...
