I’m a bit annoyed that they edited the hell out of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver last night.
In case you missed it, on the US broadcast he went over Liz Truss’ aversion to windfall taxes and showed the “profit has become a dirty word” footage, said “the nicest thing the Queen ever did for anyone was die on the week [Liz Truss] became prime minister, because at least for a week she’s not going to get justifiably destroyed for answers like that.”
On the UK segment that whole line (and one where he called King Charles a “fucker”) got removed. Maybe if this was paid for by the license fee I’d understand but now we’re just shutting down any kind of contrary sentiment to the monarchy. I mean be mindful of the mourning but don’t pretend other opinions just don’t exist.

What's it broadcast on?
Yeah we're getting a bit mourning fascisty now. Obviously not to the extent of, say, Russia or China but it's verging on unpleasant.

Sky Comedy (the Sky Showcase TX got removed altogether).
The edited product has a touch of the “Modern editing techniques” as used in the Radioactive Man Movie.

I wrote to my local MP about a Planning issue and got a ‘unable to reply during the Mourning Period’ response from his secretary with every word capitalised, including The
I wasn’t expecting much, but this mourning is taking the piss IMHO

I’ve got until tomorrow to exchange on a house purchase, so I won’t lie my first thoughts were of my solicitor dropping tools and putting his phone on silent this week. Luckily that hasn’t happened. Still not over the line yet, though…

rawshark Fingers crossed for you! I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if our estate agent/solitors downed tools for the week. Any excuse!

I'm by no means against or for the monarchy but I am feeling a bit uncomfortable about all this.
People grief thieving, bonkers mourning processes and everyone trying to get an edge to let it benefit they're own causes.
Lack of freedoms of speech and that everyone must be seen to be respecting the period of time set by the hierarchy. All for someone who we (mostly) never met.

You won't be happy until you see the corpse?
I guess you could always try breaking into St. Giles' and levering open the coffin...

You won't be happy until you see the corpse? I guess you could always try breaking into St. Giles' and levering open the coffin... You pry the coffin open, but you are greeted not by the visage of our departed Monarch, resting as if at sleep, but by a curious bottle... A flask, if you will. Hands trembling, you unscrew the lid and pour the contents into the empty coffin. Sausages cascade out, each as fat as the new King's weird balloon fingers. The cylinders of meat bounce and flop around the chambers of the coffin. You fall to you knees, and weep.

Glad I kept my thumb on the previous page.

It's not like they'd be able to actually see "the body" anyway, it's a closed casket. You can gaze patriotically at the flag draped coffin, I guess...

No seats, no refreshments, massive queues, few toilets.... 'No thanks, I would rather stay at home and punch myself in the face'

We just need to give the coffin a bit of a shake. That’s all.

It’s a closed casket on a fancy platform behind a rope barrier. Guarded by proper soldiers who will bayonet anyone who makes a dash for the coffin. I bet someone in London will try though
