The new rugby season was due to start tonight, but Premiership Rugby Limited have decided to postpone this evening's matches as... ... wait for it... ... a mark of respect.
However, the rest of the weekend's games will be played as scheduled, alongside the two postponed matches (one on Saturday evening, the other on Sunday afternoon).
Setting aside my personal feelings on the whole "the Queen is dead" situation, I don't know what PRL is trying to achieve here. Surely you'd either postpone the entire first round of games, as the football authorities have done, or allow them to proceed as originally planned? This seems like a half-assed compromise that'll please nobody.

Tomorrow’s horse racing cancelled, which really would have pissed the Queen off.

I seen that and got irritated a little at first but then to be fair to them the Queen was a part of it all so I can understand it, certainly more than some other sports. The mourning is getting ridiculous though, expected, but ridiculous all the same. Unless you were a family member, a friend or a close staff member you didn't know her beyond the image her PR team presented, we know the character of the Queen only. We might as well be mourning Dot Cotton, not June Brown, but the character Dot. |

Edward's is the name of the non-nonce brother of Charles right? I met him briefly back around jubilee time this year (he was visiting a place I work) and from the minute or so small talk him and his wife seem fairly decent, not very stuck up, at least didn't come across that way.
Unless he's a massive ballbag and that's why I know nothing about him.
