I'm perfectly happy to just let this slide past me, if people want to mourn fine, but if dickheads are going to start politicising it (now we kneel bollocks) I'm just going to start going out my way to be a cunt about it.

Starting to come to terms with it a bit now. So many good memories though. I remember that time she waved out of the window when she was driving passed those people. With her little glove on. Jesus, told myself I wasn't going to cry today. Remember that time she went to that event and sat and watched the whole thing with a blank look on her face. Or remember the time she walked her dogs on that field just like a normal person would. Some really great memories.

As a Crown Official I order you all to mourn.
Also, today at my work as a Crown Official I may or may not have suggested that the funeral is a golden opportunity to chuck the rest of them in the grave, Ancient Egyptian-style.

So many Royal Variety Performance shows watched as well. Comedians, music. So many acts she patiently and selflessly sat through and watched for entertainment. Every year. That's sacrifice, that is.

I don't think they envisaged her dying during the worst period of peacetime crisis (which is even questionable as to whether we're still in "peacetime") in centuries. They've got to basically bodge the plan on the fly and account for so many factors. They will have had a better plan for her dying than they did for covid. This is *the* event.

They threw him in the Tower of London and let the crows pick out his eyes. I hear he's doing great.

My Mum - not a royalist by any means - just texted us that she "epitomised values of self-sacrifice and hard work".
Err, what? Are we talking about the same Queen?

I've had this issue all day. Everyone keeps saying the sacrifice she made and how hard she worked... Does anyone actually know what things she genuinely accomplished by herself?
I think going forwards we should have a monthly zoom session with Charlie-Boy where he tells us the King stuff he done that month.

Our 5 year old walking into school today saw some flags and pictures of the queen outside some houses:
“Like they’re celebrating the Queen!” “No, they’re not. Sadly she died last night and some people are sad.” “Are you sad?” “Not really.” “Ok. I like my new shoes! They’re still shiny”.

I guess she could have sat there and done fuck all, she did stuff in the war which I understand was good but people do go overboard with the praise.

I suppose it comes from wanting to say something nice about someone who's died, even if it's a bit OTT.
I don't have remotely the same level of hate for her as some do (as suggested elsewhere, I once swore an oath to protect her and hers), that's more reserved for the likes of Andrew... but at the same time, I don't buy all of the platitudes.
I won't celebrate the death of someone who as far as I am personally aware, hasn't done any great harm and I feel sorry for any family that loses an important member. It's awful to go through.

Been in work from 7am and have enjoyed acting completely oblivious to it anytime it's been brought up "Really? I hadn't heard" "So sudden" "She did look a little peaky the during the week now you mention it". Some of the responses have kept me going.

It's far less about her as a person and far more about being the figurehead of a rotten institution that's symbolic of everything wrong with this country, but worth adding that she bailed our her paedo son, hoarded immense unearned wealth and used it to extract more from us, and protected her estate from being subject to the Equalities Act 2010. So I'd say she was pretty bad tbh.

I don’t have any hatred for her, I don’t have that much of an opinion on her other than she was an old lady and anyone dying is always a little sad unless they’re a really terrible person. It’s so distant from me and my life that it feels no different to any other celebrity I’ve heard of.

I played my kids (still young enough to be gullible) the opening to the trailer of the film King Ralph (where all of the royal families get electrocuted and a distant cousin becomes King) and explained that he's Donald Trumps half brother and he is our new King.
They left to go to school pretty shocked and maybe a bit upset. I may be a bit to pleased with myself.

Obviously Charles is going to get the same level of outpouring of grief when he carks it, right? Right? This might be controversial, but... how about you just don't have a queen. Or a king. Or a royal family at all.

One of my favourite 'Maj Moments' was when she rather unexpectedly wore a bright coloured outfit.
