Can anyone advise why when I right click on any image within the browser I do not get the 'search image by google lens' option? I only see the below options. I've also tried this within Incognito mode just in case one of my extensions is causing the issue, but seeing the same thing. Checked my flags and both 'Enable Lens features in Chrome' and 'Enable Lens fullscreen search features.' options are enabled. Tried changed them to disabled and back to enabled (and just default) with no joy, after restarting the browser. This is on a Windows 10 machine laptop, running Chrome version: 104.0.5112.81 Any help would be most grateful.

Had a quick Google and someone said it's related to your default search engine. If it's switched from Google, you don't see the option so it could be that

I've spent the past week de-chroming my life and transitioning to Firefox.
It's actually been easier and less friction than I expected it to be, especially on mobile where I default to chrome for ease with syncing everything and passwords etc.
Chrome and it's relentless pursuit to insert adverts into my face hole and slowly fucking over adblockers and even preventing my laptop from view anything greater than 1080p on YouTube has eventually fostered enough resentment that I've acted on it.
So far, so good.

If firefox had Chrome's built in translation then I'd never need to use Chrome. I think they're trying, but it's very limited at the moment. Firefox on mobile always used to be rubbish, so I finally gave up and just used Chrome there. Which i think is why FF lost so much market share with the rise of smartphones.

131 no longer working for me, so FF it is. Agree that they were slow to adapt to smart phones though. Used to be either FF or Opera on desktop but Chrome gradually took over as it made things so bloody easy.

I never thought about the translation thing but luckily it's not something I have to contend with very often. Chrome being so easy on mobile is one of the reasons I just used it everywhere else.
Modern android is a really quite good at supporting alternative default browsers and its even allowed me to swap to ff as the credentials source.

I've just been told I need to lose Firefox at work as it's less secure, I'm the only one in the company who uses apparently and I've been using it for the last decade or so with dozens of bookmarks etc so that's going to be painful transferring everything over at some point. I hate Chrome.

Hmm. In what way is it less secure?

I don't know, I'm ill equipped to go up against our IT department, I say department it's just one guy, we do get a shed load of phishing emails etc and there have been quite a few breaches so they are super paranoid. Anyway I'll carry on using it until I'm forced to do it.

There are a bunch of translation extensions, but I've yet to find one that comes close to chrome's built in translation. Most of them either open a popup or a new tab, whereas chrome translates everything 'in-place', which is a game-changer for using more complex web-apps.
I do actually use deepL quite a bit, but I don't think it can do what Chrome does. (the full page translation is a paid feature though, so I can't check).
Mozilla have started adding their own built-in translation, but it's an early days research project with a Uni and they only support about 10 languages for now. Not including the one I need.
I still use Firefox as my home desktop browser (with translation extension), but I have to keep Chrome installed for anytime I want to do anything more than translate a few lines or a basic static site.
