I'm 40 in less than 6 months. Feels like I should do something as it's one of those round numbers, but can't think of anything. I try to ignore my birthday for the most part but there always a kind of nagging thought that maybe I should do something. Might just go on a pub crawl by myself. If it helps I did fuck all on my 40th. Did fuck all on my 41st as well.
How the fucking hell am I 41. I never even got used to being 40.

My 40th is such a long time ago, I can't even remember what we did. Bowling? Probably.
Of course, I was verrrrry drunk indeed.

We had a weekend away in that London in a swanky hotel for my 40th. Went to football, had an amazing steak dinner, went to a blues bar. It was great. I will not be doing the same for my 50th next year. I shall be hiding.

41 in a few weeks too, still not used to 40. We'd relocated so weren't near old friends etc so I didn't have a big bash to celebrate (had a nice day and evening out, but nothing over the top). Maybe I'll make up for it for the 50th.

From The Guardian...
If you have difficulty standing on one leg, it could be a sign of something more serious than overdoing it at the office summer drinks party. Middle-aged and elderly people who cannot balance on one leg for 10 seconds are almost twice as likely to die within 10 years than those who can, research suggests.
How well a person can balance can offer an insight into their health. Previous research, for instance, indicates that an inability to balance on one leg is linked to a greater risk of stroke. People with poor balance have also been found to perform worse in tests of mental decline, suggesting a link with dementia.

Nice knowing you folks. I can't balance on either leg, which is down to crap ankles that I am belatedly trying to fix.

Nice knowing you folks. I can't balance on either leg, which is down to crap ankles that I am belatedly trying to fix. I've got one crap ankle and one bum knee. Ironically, one of the physio treatments for said knee is to stand on one leg (the bad one), with it slightly bent, leaning forward. As a result of practise, I can now do this for longer than 10 seconds. Hurray. Doubtless, something else will get me instead.
