Frostback Basin is not my favourite area of Dragon Age: Inquisition.
You can tell it's a DLC area as it lacks the polish of the other maps. Vast numbers of textures don't line up properly, leading to a sort of spiderwebbing effect across the terrain where you can see through to the skybox.
It's also got a weird disconnection in technical terms from all other areas of the game, in that it's a place where many mods simply don't work, so my Inquisition soldiers are still in their original horrible drab olive green uniforms.
Not overly fond of having to carry a veilfire torch from one end of the map to another just to discover that what, up until then in the rest of the game, had been wall markings denoting rune schematics is actually just a text dump in this one and only instance.
In addition, it is also fucking raddled with giant spiders.
It does have some things going for it though. Like Storvacker The Bear.

Dead Space remaster.
Never got round to playing the OG version so this has been a been a welcome/scary addiction to PSN.
You can tell it's an older game by design but the lighting, models and boost to FPS is great. Really enjoying it, kind of.

I'd forgotten about that. I assume the name is supposed to be Scandinavian; Storvacker = Big Beautiful.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 (Switch)
After going to the x-games a few weeks back I got all excited and splashed out on this when I got home (breaking my usual policy to never pay more than 50p for a game). Then we had a bunch of busy weeks, and I needed to order a new microsd card for the switch, so I never got to play it... until today...
It is ace. I mean, it's Tony Hawk, which I played back in the day, but it's with nice new crisp visuals* and runs really smoothly, plus with the updated controls from the later games and lots of polish thrown in. There's a bunch of quality of life stuff, which probably makes it a fair bit easier, but is appreciated. And a light frosting of modern gamification with 'challenges' etc... that I'm largely ignoring.
I don't remember if the originals had splitscreen, but if they did I never used it. But it's fun messing around competing with a partner in the same level. It supposedly has online, but I've not managed to find match. Not that fussed about online anyway.
*The Switch graphics aren't in the same league as the other consoles, but they still look good, especially in motion, and it runs smoothly which is the main thing.
Corruption and abuse... The salesman of our blood...

Rumours seem to be circulating there's a 3&4 remaster coming too which would be ace but I wouldn't mind getting a remastered THUG.
I'm supposed to be playing the latest Prince of Persia but my Pro controller has broken so I'm trying Diablo IV which is amazingly my first ever Diablo.
Enjoying it so far though.

Terminator Resistance Enhanced (PS5)
I’ve only played a couple of sessions but I really like this, it’s very basic but so well done. However, my progress is glacial as I explore FAR too much
Done that first set of objectives now and I’ve not left a scrap or resources out there or an enemy alive. Have so much ‘stuff’ now it’s ridiculous
One of the skills is to expand your backpack but there doesn’t seem a limit on what I’m picking up?
Tempted to buy RoboCop as soon as I’ve done this, I remember laughing at how bad the trailer was for that game but if I end up buying it I suppose the joke is on me

Jusant
Wow, absolutely stunning game. Played about 3 hours tonight. Totally hooked. The HDR is a perfect fit for the game. One of the first games I've played where sticking DLSS on performance mode improves frame rate with barely a drop in image quality. Impressed as it's totally fixed some stuttering for me.

I also thought Terminator was great fun. Robocop is not perfect but much like T you can see the love that went into making it, also if you are a certain "vintage" it is somewhat of a love letter to our youth, sorry yoof. Oh Yeah!

Jusant was overlooked by a lot of people at launch which is a shame as it's an excellent and original game. It doesn't outstay its welcome either.

So it is worth upgrading - you'll upgrade everything by the end so it's a question of preferred order, mostly. If you are trophy-hunting, there is one you should maximise asap but I'll leave that to you to investigate. Anyway, I finished it recently and definitely agree, there's a lot to love about the game, first and foremost the love the developers have for the IP. There's a lot there in the design I like - light RPG elements, stealth, exploration in medium-sized maps. And it's funny you should mention RoboCop as I thought exactly the same thing as I was playing it. Haven't picked it up yet though.

The robocop and terminator games are made with care for the films, they are made on a budget but I replayed terminator game (first on xboxone) but now the enhanced one on series x and it was great to play. One thing about the robocop game its a little janky and had to change the sensitivity to do the target practice mini game. It would be great if they did a judge dredd game based on the last film
Picked up Marvel midnight suns, didn't want as download from the xbox store as just want to play it once and its cheaper on disc (despite the so called premium skins you get, you have to unlock them in game anyway)
I knew the combat was the best part of the game and the shitty sims like/shite persona-lite was fucking awful and I can say first hand its 100% correct. The card combat is great as you knock enemies together and chain attacks. I can see them re-using the same missions later. Glad they didn't just do xcom rip off with super heroes
But fuck me, the abbey grounds section can be quite painful, apparently that part of the game was outsourced to some other company and its from people who think they can do "Buffy" or good marvel films dialogue but its cringe in the worst way, Its not The office cringe but someone trying hard to be funny. Even captain marvel quips, pretty much every character so far quips some twat face line. It would be better if I can join Hydra and wipe these gimps out.
Also despite being on the series X, the character models look a bit waxy and 360/ps3 era

Playing Airs Adventure lately. It's an introductory-level Saturn JRPG that never left Japan. I can kinda see why... but I'll leave my thoughts for when I'm finished, assuming it doesn't go in the abandoned games thread instead.

I think I'm done with Inquisitor Martyr for now. Surprisingly I was motivated enough to keep investing time in my character even though the narrative side of things was basically done, but I'm ready to move on.
So I played some of those small itch.io games and didn't have much luck finding anything particularly impressive. But "The search for the green river" and "The Golden Tower" were nice little mood pieces. Just too short and simple to leave much of an impression.
And then - after looking through the backlog - I realized I still have that half-finished Bloodlines playthrough going, so I'll probably continue with that tomorrow.

With Wild Hearts done and dusted, and Veilguard not out for another fortnight, I'll be playing Balatro exclusively in the meantime.

I thought about giving The Outer Worlds - Spacer's Choice a try as Epic did give it away a while back, but then I remembered that - irregardless of the question if it runs properly now - the hardware requirements are still significantly higher for little reason.
I'll just wait until the original version has a good sale.

Wanted something mindless I could lose myself in, loaded up GTA V so I could just drive around like a nutter with Channel X radio on. Spent nearly a full minute just weaving in and out of traffic at high speed, singing along to Lexicon Devil, and then Franklin got an email from his aunt calling him a worthless scumbag.

Rollerdrome
Hmmmmm... Just started. Love the aesthetic but there is something about the controls that feels off to me. I want to play it like it's Tony Hawk's, but the jumping, tricking, shooting, dodging AND bullet time means you're juggling a lot of shit at once which should be fun, but feels a bit like micro managing too many things. Hmmm. Dunno, maybe it just hasn't clicked, but the loop seems to be dodge dodge dodge, launch into the air, bullet time, hold button till baddy dead.

I tried the demo for Luna Abyss yesterday. It's an FPS with bullet hell elements and apparently relatively strong story focus. Good, dark atmosphere with lots of red as well. Environments - especially in the background - are a little reminiscent of Blame! and you get some good scale here. I will probably give the full version a try at some point.
Other than that I have started The Ascent, but haven't been able to put in much time. Gameplay works well, but the prologue section being as long as it was seemed unnecessary.

Dunno why, but I've never engaged with Steam Next Fest. The EG/RPS coverage has been extensive this time round, which is great, and I finally had the impetus to take a dip before it ends in a day -_- Anyway, hour or so later and my GF and I are totally hooked on Ballionaire: www.rockpapershotgun.com/ballionaire-is-a-pachinko-roguelike-where-you-build-your-board-as-you-playInsta purchase when it launches I reckon! Roguelike pachinko where you place bumpers that have different classes than chain off other bumpers. Super satisfying getting them to match up as your ball teleports around the level pinging off everything, racking up delicious points. Very very moreish!

Luna Abyss does sound good though. i liked ascent a lot for its style, got harder quicker than i git gud so never finished but it has some stunning lighting and camera work someone on my steam friends list was playing it today - can't remember who's who now - smellsofnapalm, you one of those rps chums who made it over here? Dunno why, but I've never engaged with Steam Next Fest. this time round, me too. downloaded Keep Driving demo and played all of seven minutes before uninstalling. i think most of it is a me thing rather than a steam thing. not feeling terribly computer gamey at moment

No, nor me tbh. Hence getting into Warhammer stuff and painting recently :x
But it'll come to pass, always does. Finding, when I do, I engage a lot with roguelike games these days. Something about the gaming loop that appeals - think because tends to be done in less than an hour. Makes them feel manageable even if never get close to 100%-ing them.

I thought The Ascent was ok. Style was great, execution a bit less so. Did finish it though. I think i had to grind a bit for that.
However, I am mostly here adding likes for all the recent Jusant love. It's a great game and more should play it.

Hey, you can play a bunch of demos, but we'll release them all at the same time with a short time limit, so you won't have time to play most of them, and you won't know which ones to choose!* *to my understanding, as I've not engaged with it before either, due to it sounding like a PITA.

I've started GTA V (X/S) from the start in anticipation of IV next year. Whilst I've put a fair chunk of time into GTAO I haven't played the story missions since release, so it's a surprise to me that I'm actually remembering them as well as I do. I thought a decade would be long enough to have forgotten most of them. The game apparently made quite the impression on me.
