Decided to abandon Sifu on the second boss and picked up a fresh game of Cyberpunk 2077 instead. Looks decent on series X even without Ray tracing shenanigans. I guess I could've played on PC again, but I just don't have the enthusiasm for desk based gaming these days. Loving it so far anyway and already looking forward to the DLC I think I will return to this (also X) only 30 odd hours in, so barely touched! I do need to complete KCD first though, so maybe a few months away

The aiming with controller felt off for me on XSX regardless of how I fiddled with the settings, it's why I haven't gotten far through it yet. I hate that feeing with games, generally speaking. And I don’t have the patience to tweak the settings as nothing ever ends up feeling right.

I'm absolutely loving Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I got my arse kicked in a 'training' sword fight and rightly mocked. A lot of the time in games I start out a low level, but could squeeze by, but in KC, I'm finding that it's a real struggle to do any combat. I'm slowly becoming better, and it's a real joy to see that progression.

About 35-40% way through Prince of Persia The Lost Crown. Love pretty much everything about it, but i really love its flair in its platforming, does feel like you are playing an Arabian tale esq adventure. Reminds me a lot of Celeste too which is always a good thing.
Only thing is, i seem to have a natural reaction to difficulty in games by going ‘I can’t be ****** with this’ and the difficulty in the platforming does go up a lot in the area I’m in/just finished ( archives). Good fun though, and some interesting puzzles even if my can’t be arsed part of the brain wants to take over.

traded in alone in the dark and got robocop: rogue city and you can tell the devs wanted to make something faithful to the source material. Its done on a budget much like their terminator game (which at launch certain sites had their knives out for). So many bad guys dying by being shot in the dick Also the robocop theme on the menu is really nice as its piano version

In an infinite number of universes, across which every conceivable possibility will one day play out, there exists a world in which a bored gamer is sifting through YouTube on a Tuesday afternoon. He cues up another video, takes a sip from his can of Cherry Coke, and hits play.
On the screen, a shinobi engages in blistering melee combat against a variety of terrifying foes, human and monster alike.
Switching seamlessly between attack and defence, he wields a razor-sharp katana, which is swung with surgical precision; using his other hand, which appears to be a grotesque prosthetic of some sort, he deploys an array of tools which aid in combat and traversal.
The screen fades to black, and the narrator intones: "FromSoftware don't do action games... but if they did, they'd probably be the best action games in the world."
The gamer sits back in his chair, looking stunned. "Goddamn!" he muses aloud. "Why can't I play that?!"
One of the (few) good things about living in this timeline is that here, FromSoft really did make an action game - it's called Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and it's still the best damn game I've ever played.
In fact, I'm playing it right now (which means this post is actually on-topic, albeit in somewhat masturbatory and self-indulgent fashion).
I'm currently being spanked over and over again by Daddy Dearest - which sounds awful, and feels even worse - but somehow I go back for another round with a smile on my face, every single time.

It really is the pinnacle from FROM's output and I've been on the FROM train since my import of Demon's Souls on the PS3.
It's the only game I've ever been bothered to go for the Platinum. I don't know if it's my favourite ever game but it's right up there.
Sucks that the Series S can't do 60FPS - I've only ever played it in 30FPS and would love to play a 60FPS version.

Annoyingly for myself, I seem to get up to the ape after restarting then give up. Love it up to then but that boss is shit, probably because you can't parry much if at all.
When I go back to the game after a break, I can't remember any buttons, timings and get pissed off.
One day I will finish it.
Or just watch a video.

Ah, that's a shame. May be worth starting from scratch if you have the patience.
You've beaten Genichiro so you can definitely smash that stupid ape!

gibroon You got this, man. If I can do it, I'm pretty sure anyone can (and this is my fourth playthrough, with the Platinum trophy well and truly in my sights).

I spent way too long prior to that trying to hunt bloody rabbits.. managed to bag 8 in the end.

They all are aren't they I was watching a YT vid of someone playing the first 30 mins of KCD, and upon seeing two "baddies" on horses the YTer said "a baldy and a Ginger, two of the worst kinds of people" made me laugh...my boy is a full ginger.

What's with all the EG complaints of representation, when you've got so many gingers

Loving it so far anyway and already looking forward to the DLC Due to general life circumstances I’ve not had the gaming time I’d have liked since starting my Sifu playthrough. I’m only three bosses in but that second was the toughest so far by a long way. I’m not a skillful player but can get some decent moves in normally but for him I pretty much just tanked the damage and ate as many deaths as it took to whittle his health down. I’m sure if I look on youtube there’ll be some no hit guide that shows he has a tell you can exploit to counter his attacks with big damage but I just stuck to dodging and hit and run attacks while getting pulverised every time he caught me.

Is this actually a thing that happened? The only reference I could find to it was on a pro-Gamergate subreddit.

I was wrong about the anonymous bit, been a while. Looking into the trash fire back then, the info from "Sean Mark Miller" was a bit suspect as the cities mentioned in the review are far from where the game is set, its "basically trust me bro"

What are your thoughts on ethics in videogame journalism I don't give a shit about video game reviews from sites, they can be good to laugh at. The whole crap back then was dark stain on gaming.

Bertie always seemed one of the decent ones at EG, can't see him creating a person out of thin air to aid his argument.

One thing about Kingdom come, the lock picking was awful on console, when I played it on gamepass. Heard it was different on PC?

The May 4th gift for The Old Republic players dropped early, and it's another re-skin of the P1-XL droid. Which I don't mind, because it's not the hideous moss-green version we had last year.
