There was 3 different DLC packs released months after the game was released. Remasters of the old tracks and a few cars. That's just the packs split into parts.
Extra content as DLC after a game has been released isn't quite the same as the evil "microtransactions" that everyone gets their knickers in a twist about.

I'm not as well versed, but I'm pretty sure one car per small transaction counts as a microtransation no matter whether or not it was released after the game.
Maybe you didn't scroll down very far.

Yeah, that's not really what a microtransaction is. This is cheap DLC, which is also shit but not on the same level.
If they had a "1000 dirtbux" or something similar on that list then it's time to grab your pitchfork.

Oh I see. I've never played a game that had that type of thing so I'm well out of the loop. Still kind of trashy though, and seems like it's only a short stop to whatever horror you're talking about. also dirtbux

It's a microtransaction in the way the term was used in the 360 days. Oblivion horse armor, Street Fighter skins etc. But it's not what's thought of as "underaged gambling" the way lootboxes or FUT packs are.

Yeah, that was my take. Pointlessly divided up DLC rather than free content updates or full expansions.

It was 3 different fairly decent sized expansions for a relatively small amount of money. That list is everything from those expansions divided into bits. Codemasters have got progressively worse recently but DR2 wasnt bad for microtransactions when you were playing it. There was a good amount of content and this was just DLC added on down the line.

Horse armour changed the gaming world forever, It's funny how quickly things get normalised and just accepted.
I don't really mind most dlc as it's been a way to keep game prices from rising as development costs have gone up (although Sony and Square Enix have now changed that).

DLC with actual content is fine, we all bought expansions 20 years ago. DLC like horse armour can get fucked by a horse (barring FTP games that use the cosmetic stuff to generate their revenue)

But the prices have gone up if you include the DLC? It's a way to make the game look cheaper when it's released and then make you pay more incrementally later on so it doesn't seem as bad
The industry is also much bigger now than it was, so there's more money to be made to compensate for rising costs. Plus it's the publishers who are pushing graphics and spending so much money on advertisement
I don't mind DLC but I don't think it's necessary to keep the industry afloat. Sounds like corporate PR. It's just more money

Pay to win stuff like the option to buy extra ammo or gun modifications in games like Dead Space 3 was a step too far. The "it's optional!" argument was weak, and a glaring cash grab. It's complete failure to gain any traction was a relief.
Personally, I think it's more the 'games as a service' angle that fucks the consumers more than DLC. The heavy focus on some sort of multiplayer aspects that, when the time comes, forces you into the next thing rather than letting people do what they want with the game they bought. It's poison, and the path is littered with games where the servers have just been turned off.
Console generations also act like a hard lock for game support, but that's a whole other issue.

Yeah, surely with Activision and Bethesda they've crossed a line already. Although I read elsewhere that the company that just hoovered up Squenix's leftovers are already technically larger and seem to be having no problems acquiring stuff.

I think the scale of Activision Blizzard trumps all of their acquisitions.

The judges are just mega Chrome fanboys.
actually on that note, wouldn't be surprised if Google gobbles them up.
