Have they released a patch yet? I stopped playing and got a refund after one too many bugs; the last one made the game unplayable. Essentially everyone I met started attacking me for no reason, no matter where I was, and the saves didn't go far enough back to keep it from happening unless I used one that was hours of boring as fuck fetch quest behind. ed: nm, just gone through all the patch notes for the various updates, found a thread of people on reddit with the same issue and no relief in sight. Apparently, it's caused by some remnant of hostile or criminal activity that you didn't take care of previously somehow catching up to you. I stole a bunch of stuff from a store's stash that was randomly in the middle of a street, so that might have done it. No clue, but I have no save remotely close so I can't do shit about it. I feel like the fact you can't go back to a previous save because you can't face the interim experience of actually playing the game again speaks volumes. I want to enjoy this game but for every fun discovery or quest there's 10 "shuttle between points in the universe to wade through a ream of dialogue which ranges from dull to dull and terribly written" moments. Interspersed with assorted bugs and boredom. But I'm just curious enough to keep playing, to try to understand what the fuss is about and feel involved.

"Hi I have something for you" "For me, really?" "Yes, we are partners, after all. I saw it earlier and thought you'd like it" /companion gives me 482 credits Urgh yeah. "Hey I have something for you." "You shouldn't have. What is it?" "It's a massive dollop of immersion destruction. Enjoy."

To escape from the tree, you can use a console command to noclip your way out of it, if on PC. The command is 'tcl', same as it was with Skyrim and Fallout 4.
If you are worried about console commands disabling your achievements, Baka Achievement Enabler is the mod for you.

Barrett made me a sandwich earlier. The first thing Barrett gave me was his currywurst. I prefer Andreja just paying me for the privilege of joining me though.

Andreja backstory:
She admitted to me that she joined Constellation as a spy for House Va'ruun. Not sure how to take that to be honest, as my character is Enlightened and so far the difference in belief hasn't come up. That being said, the only time I've ventured into the House Of The Enlightened stuff was right at the start when I only had Sarah as a companion, and I've not actually encountered any Va'ruun in quests yet, just the odd hostile ship or merc band.

None of the save games loading because the game crashes before they can is the problem. On Series X anyways. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Dr Kelton the scientist on Jemison is researching an issue with the trees. Maybe this is the issue he's predicting, triffids that cling onto you and consume your gametime

I don’t think removing the limitations on ship building is a good idea.
It’s inevitable we’re gonna see a ship the size of the London Shard but with two giant big wheel size balls slung under one end.
The Penetrator is not a ship in my game that I ever want to experience.
Not even with any companion gifted lubrication. No thank you I’m Aus!

I have encountered one charcater in the form of a relatively young-ish man who I'm 99% certain is voiced by relatively old man Tony Amendola, and hearing the old voice come out of the young face was a bit disconcerting. I met him at a con once, he's a proper gent. Met that guy now, considering who he is maybe he's had some work done

Had a doh! moment.
The only thing missing from the combat, apart from maybe a bit more reaction from enemies to shots is a combat slide. Been wanting it since the beginning and .... well reading fail!
Nearly 30 or 40 hours later, it's literally right in front of me in the skill tree. How the fuck I missed it I don't know.

I played for an embarrassing amount of time while thinking this game could really do with a jetpack. I just assumed the boost pack was for the zero G sections... FML!

After trying to head down and push through the story quests (I have a masochistic urge to eat my campaign vegetables before I can eat my side quest dessert) I'm giving up.
I just can't stomach another "use your scanner to find the anomalies" but no disturbances appear on the scanner fiasco.
I brute forced it before but I can't face it again.
Especially after the... won't spoil but very environmental exploration style main story quest which MASSIVELY outstayed its welcome.
I wish I could enjoy this game.

Yeah, I completely get it, but my time and energy is finite these days, and in my 1 hour and 57minutes of play time, it just seemed to hit that typical bethesda groove far faster than their other games, and then the jank became overwhelming and I hit the refund button. I want to play it more, but I don't want to troubleshoot and bugfix a game I've plopped $100 on. I will be picking it up again once all the excitement calms down and I can rumble through on my own terms in a relatively stable build, rather than the usual hivemind narrative directing my bug thwarted progress. I really should know better than to day 1 anything these days, it's invariably a choresome experience in some fashion. My one serious criticism is it's really not a space game at all, it's manual fast travel with an occasional pew pew minigame. The space bit is toss.

Question: in the mission “guilty parties” for Ryujin I have murdered everybody in the Syndicate building (they said don’t go to the third floor so clearly I had to) - is this a mistake and it’ll cost me later on or it doesn’t really matter?

I didn't have much issue with these, just a slow rotate on landing and then run. You start close enough to them normally that if you boost high enough you'll see them anyway. The annoying thing is there's 24 of the bastards, although you only have to do one of them for the main quest and only 4 are worth doing anyway.

You can usually see them from wherever you land anyways. No scanner needed.

Yeah, just do a slow 360 spin and you'll most likely spot them unless it's a planet with poor visibility, or they're bloody miles away like the last one I did.
The little puzzle inside the temples does my head in. First time I did it I instantly figured out what needed to be done, but had to Google it as I clearly wasn't zipping to the next one quick enough. Think I did 11 of them before giving up, and I still have the first power equipped.
Are they a main story quest or optional? Thought it was the latter after you get the first one.

If it's anything like the other Ryujin quests you'll probably just get a slap on the wrist and lower reward. That's definitely the kind of thing I'd make a manual save before trying, though.

I swear I do the slow 360 and see no disturbance every time... Anyway! I head down, slogged through and completed it. And you know, it was one of those moments where you had to see the final piece to enjoy the big picture. Going into new game plus with a newfound respect for the game and no urge to slog through the story missions as fast as I can. In other words what the fuck I love Starfield now.

I meant just look for the tower poking out on the skyline without even using the scanner.
