Combat is finally starting to click for me now after doing a couple of bounties. Currently switching between a lawgiver (6 shot old school rifle) and the coachman for when I want to get close and personal. Can chew through even pretty tough enemies when combined with the gravity power Starting to have lots of fun just exploring and doing random shit too, although the worlds still feel a bit bare compared to Skyrim etc. Fucking awful opening few hours, but I'm glad I stuck with it. |

It must be engaging you in some way Mr Phatts as you would have shelved it otherwise before hitting 20 hours. I can't be doing with playing a game I don't gel with for that long. It’s fine. It’s my background game. An hour here. An hour there. At the same point with Diablo IV I think i’d racked up at least twice the playtime. That game consumed me for about six weeks.  Getting quite hyped for Forza now. That’s only a few weeks away now. |

Having a game like that in itself can be quite nice, just something to pop in and out of. The monster train daily is my daily gap filler.

I'm properly hooked in but if anything it has also got me hankering for a heavily modded Skyrim playthrough. Not played that since its release on 360!? but videos have started being reccommended from YouTube and it looks quite different to what I remember

Maybe due to mods? The official visual look hasn’t changed much at all since launch. Well, actually IIRC the skies changed a bit with the PS4/XB1 releases, but otherwise it looks a lot like the 2011 release.

Skyrim with mods was awesome…. but I still probably spent more time messing with mods than I did actually playing modded Skyrim, because I’d had all I wanted from it before mods came to console.
I checked and there’s confirmation that mods will be coming to Starfield Xbox players - but no date yet. Can’t decide if it’s better to leave it alone until I’ve at least got to NG+, or jump in as soon as they’re switched on. Even if it’s just for a nicer planet map.
(And maybe better inventory UI)
(Ok and enemy / companion AI)
(And I’d love an Unread Books Glow mod!)

Could be a bug on your end? My in-game pops is the same character model, but his mouth is more neutral.

As you don't have a vehicle for planet travel they need to give a 4 option when in the cockpit which is low take off so that you can fast travel from one area of the planet to another without going to back into space.

If you sprint before you boost you can get a good long way before your boost runs out - and that’s on the very first boost level. I was thinking levelling boost up a bit should mean I can zip across planets without wishing I had a Warthog or Mako or whatever.
(I would love a Warthog though)

Is there a easy way to get resources to build stuff or do you really have to go planet to planet trying to find what you need? I've turned on tracking for the things I need and I can't where that is "tracked" anywhere.

Chopsen I saw a tip that the UC Distribution Centre (NOT UC Surplus) in Atlantis has just about every resource you could need for crafting - been meaning to check it out myself when I get home. Edit - there’s also a place that looks like it sells high-end art in Atlantis, Jemison Mercantile, they also had loads of crafting stuff, particularly lubricant, adhesive, sealant etc for gun and suit mods.

I've just sunk a couple more hours into this. Time slips away. I like it so far... gulp. I MUCH prefer the combat to Skyrim and Fallout. The AI is shit but the guns are just about meaty enough that they feel like guns..
Question is how long before I get bored. Oblivion was 60 hours. Think I finished FO3. Skyrim I just found too similar to Oblivion tbh.
This is so mind bogglingly big that I'm not even remotely tempted to search places very thoroughly. That's really helping me progress because normally I spend way too long filling my pockets.

Second session since it came out today. Getting stuck into lots of busywork on New Atlantis and ignoring the quest. Bloody stuffy in the gaming room which doesn’t help but got unreasonably angry when I ran out of digipicks in some boring mission about the national grid. Why out a locked door there right near the start of the game?!

After finally getting cloud saves to sync, it sticks on the launcher screen for 15 mins before I decide to reboot and try again. Game launches this time and defaults to ultra settings which seem to work pretty well. Load times even seem quicker than on Xbox. I play for all of 2 minutes and the game just closes without an error.
So 30 minutes later I just end up back downstairs on the Xbox. So much for the high refresh rate gunplay dream...

Both of these things were causing problem with my set-up, causing constant crashes to desktop and then even stopping the thing from restarting sometimes
